We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual to join our team as our Purchasing & Warehouse Manager. This is a full-time on-site role in which the qualified person will manage and execute all the company’s daily purchasing and warehousing responsibilities. This person will oversee the procurement of marine/boat repair materials, manage warehouse inventories, coordinate with vendors, and ensure timely delivery of materials to all of Cooley Marine’s locations and job sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Purchasing Operations:
• Purchase goods, materials, components, and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
• Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
• Manage Inventory, Track parts usage, forecast demand, and reorder parts as necessary to prevent shortages or overstock.
• Manage and track shipments and backorders for onsite and offsite project locations to ensure timely delivery of parts to avoid operational disruptions.
• Source vendors, negotiate prices, and manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions for regular and promotional pricing.
· Analyze spending trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in purchasing and inventory management
· Assist technicians in locating and retrieving specialized parts as needed for urgent repair work.
· Workshop tool/equipment warranty claims & repair/replacement
· Following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
Warehouse Operations:
· Unload deliveries, Inspect contents for damages and sign paperwork upon receipt accordingly
· Verify deliveries against packing list and purchase order then receive in company software
· Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake or damage is identified
· Assume responsibility for returning and replacing unsatisfactory shipments
· Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated location(s).
· Supervise the checkout of parts from the stockroom to technicians, ensuring accurate and timely distribution.
· Maintain an efficient and organized process for parts issuance, ensuring that technicians receive the correct parts for repairs and maintenance work
· Maintain accurate records for all inbound and outbound shipments
· Log and track parts issued from the stockroom, ensuring proper disbursement to workorder
· Verify part numbers, quantities, and conditions of parts before issuing them to technicians, ensuring accuracy.
· Maintain an organized and presentable warehouse and clean area, supplies, and equipment at the end of each day
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of purchasing and inventory management experience, preferably in the marine industry
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or education in a marine-related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of boat repair and maintenance materials
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with procurement and inventory software; PierVantage is a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and CAD experience a plus.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality work and meeting company goals.
- Understanding of OSHA/MSDS guidelines with respect to use of hazardous chemicals; uses proper ventilation when storing paint removers, varnishes, cleaners, etc.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Valid Driver’s License and must have own transportation.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
• Office/ Warehouse
• Marine and workshop environment both outdoor and indoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with a moderate to loud noise level.
• Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas
• Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job
