Position Overview:

Halo Branded Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Architect to lead the architecture of our data engineering platforms and enterprise data solutions. This role will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data architectures that support our business objectives and drive data-driven decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

Work directly with the VP of Data Engineering to help develop enterprise data strategy in collaboration with our business and technology partners.


Data Engineering Platform Architecture:

  • Design and oversee the architecture of our data engineering platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Provide architectural guidance for date engineering teams utilizing tools such as Informatica, Apache Airflow, Snowflake, and Tableau. Architect processes, procedures, templates, and best practices to build and manage data pipelines, ETL processes, and Dev Ops/CI/CD solutions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of data tools and technologies.
  • Work with business leaders and cross-functional tech teams on data needs.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to identify solutions and document functional requirements for new processes and existing issues.
  • Work directly with teams responsible for shaping how we acquire, collect and leverage data.
  • Work with ISO and business owners to manage and monitor security access in compliance with company policies.

Enterprise Data Architecture:

  • Lead the architecture of enterprise data solutions, including data platforms, data modeling, and data DevOps.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data models that support business processes and analytics.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, data quality, and data security across the organization.
  • Ensure the alignment of data architecture with business goals and IT strategies.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering, data warehouse, and DBA teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business analysts, and product managers, to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve data architecture practices.
  • Be available for occasional on-call night/weekend support.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in data architecture, data engineering, and data management.
  • Proficiency with data engineering tools such as Informatica, Apache Airflow, Snowflake, and Tableau.
  • Extensive experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
  • Experience with data DevOps practices and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • 10+ years of experience with Data Warehouses.
  • 10+ years of experience with Data Modeling.
  • 10+ years of experience with relational databases.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud methodologies.
  • Very strong SQL experience
  • Experience leading new tool/platform evaluations, recommendations, and implementations
  • Ability to collaborate with team members across multiple disciplines, including data engineering, data integration, database administration/development, and information security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data structures, database systems/tools, related software, data management, and practices in a complex organizational environment.
  • Experience with Relational Database Management is required.
  • Proficient in authoring work instructions, best practice documents, and scripts that can be followed by others.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Business Users and help make influential decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Agile methodologies and Jira
  • Knowledge of python, SQL, and APIs.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Experience with Bitbucket, Jenkins and dev ops is a plus.

The estimated base salary range for this position is between $160,000 - $190,000 USD. Please note that the pay range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. HALO's factors include but are not limited to: scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decision.
