Job Summary: The role of the Enterprise Data Architect is to expand the companys use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. The Enterprise Data Architect will achieve this by strategically designing, developing, and implementing data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. These models shall be architected at the following layers: conceptual, logical, business area, and application. This individual will act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies and data processing best practices. Primary Functions and/or Responsibilities: Develops and delivers long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards in conjunction with data users, department managers, business units, and other key stakeholders. Creates short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall data management roadmap in alignment to the Company's data governance program. Establishes processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of corporate metadata; takes steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity. Establishes methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement. Creates strategies and plans for data security, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving. Conducts data capacity planning, lifecycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks. Ensures data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance. Determines governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization. Selects and implements the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals. Oversees the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality. Collaborates with Data Governance Manager, project managers, and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data. Addresses data-related problems in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration. Identifies and develops opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and development plans for enterprise architecture and infrastructure operations. Documents the data architecture and environment in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture at the bank. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: Four-year college degree in a related field preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering or relevant field preferred At least 8 years of experience as technology, systems, data, or information architect At least 6 years of robust knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, best practices, and industry standards Experience in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise solutions aligned with TOGAF standards Experience deploying and leveraging an EA Architecture Modeling Language (ArchiMate) Direct experience in implementing enterprise data management processes, procedures, and decision support Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, and reporting structures Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, coupled with the ability to work under pressure Adept at speaking in detail with the technical crowd and effective at communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience Strong understanding of relational data structure, theories, principles, and practices Strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools Demonstrated expertise with repository creation, and data and information system lifecycle methodologies Excellent customer/user interaction skills to determine requirements In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
