This role may be remote or located at our headquarters in Mountain View, California About the role Muon Space is building an expert team that is designing and generating value-added products from Earth observations from Muon’s constellation of low Earth orbit satellites and other geospatial datasets. We are seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Signal Processing Specialist who will sit on the Muon Science Team and will help to develop the algorithms and final stages of processing for the data coming from our spacecraft’s instruments. This role will interact with both instrument engineering and ground data systems teams to ensure a deep understanding of the measurements being made as well as an ability to work with the infrastructure data flows through, aiming for generating low latency retrievals of the highest possible quality in order to meet Muon’s goals. This role will involve an initial focus on RF instruments, though working with data from multiple instrument types is likely, and therefore requires the flexibility to work on a variety of topics. Responsibilities Support the algorithmic and software development of data processing pipelines Build operational data products from remote sensing observations Work with scientists and the data team to continually refine data products Willingness to learn new topics as needed (measurements techniques, retrieval concepts, data platforms/tools, etc.) Qualifications Experience with digital signal processing techniques related to RF instruments Experience developing algorithms using data from RF instruments Exceptional skills in python-based development and analysis Ability to work with a distributed, interdisciplinary team (scientists, engineers, data support, all working at different locations) Preferred Qualifications Experience with problems requiring precision timing Experience with geolocation of RF transmitters Experience with GNU Radio Experience developing retrieval algorithms from satellite Earth observations Understanding of the principles of scientific instruments Familiarity with cloud native systems (AWS, Flyte) The salary range for this role is $95K- $195K and will depend on a candidate's skills, geographic location, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
