Purpose:
The DSP will evaluate and provide training to residents in daily living and social skills in order to assist them in achieving and maintaining their maximum level of functioning with independent community living.
Essential Responsibilities for Direct Support Professional
include but are not limited to: Monitor and assist residents with personal grooming and appearance as necessary Transport and accompany residents to appointments and other services, including day program sites, as needed Supervise and assist residents in taking their medication in accordance with program guidelines Assist residents in preparation of daily schedules to include performance of household chores, social activities, and other meetings and appointments Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties such as, but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, monitor and assist residents with daily bedroom maintenance Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies following appropriate Health and Safety, Aggression Management, First Aid, CPR, and other procedures as necessary Plan menus and assist with meal preparation as required. Monitor and observe residents with special dietary needs. Essential responsibilities per the needs of the program Coach members to utilize coping strategies during moments of distress, delivering support to facilitate de-escalation. Requirements:

EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED (required proof) Be able to pass a background check Reliable transportation Valid Driver's license

pass Safety Care course with physical techniques that include but not limited to: stability holds, leg wraps, floor drops.
