Horizontal Directional Drill Mechanic
to join our team. The Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Mechanic’s primary responsibilities include the repair and maintenance of the Company’s horizontal directional drill equipment.

Essential Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assist with drill setup on job site. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all systems and equipment used for the Company’s horizontal directional drilling operations including mud systems, mud pumps, power units, and drill rigs. Perform maintenance and repairs on large diesel engines, large hydraulic systems, pumps, and motors. Complete preventative maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, filter replacement, and hydraulic testing. Maintain a clean and organized work truck and work area on the job site. Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE. Record all maintenance activities in the maintenance system. Complete work orders and maintenance logs in an accurate and timely manner. Assist job crew with other duties when not actively working on equipment. Assist with keeping job site safe, organized, and clean, free of trash or debris.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of diesel mechanic technical program required. 2+ years’ experience as heavy equipment mechanic with 1+ year of experience working on horizontal directional drill equipment. Valid driver license with acceptable driving record required. Exceptional mechanical aptitude required. Ability to work independently with little supervision while adding to a safe and positive team environment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily performed outdoors in variable weather and lighting conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed. This position requires travel and extended stays at job locations.
