Description: Now Hiring for a Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician to Join a dynamic team at The Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM. This is a Full -Time Contract /Locums MD or DO opportunity in our IHS Family medical clinic.
8 hour shifts 8am-5pm Monday thru Friday
Full Time Hours
Up to 1 year contract with additional extension options
Family Practice or Internal Medicine experience as an MD Required
2-3 years of experience Needed
IHS facility experience preferred
Previous Locum Tenens experience preferred
Board certification needed
Work on any US license
Adult and Pediatric experience needed

Family Practice Physician duties: Perform outpatient and inpatient (if desired) family practice duties and manage patient's needs as described in the (PD), identified by the Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor. Perform in accordance with the competency standards listed in the Shiprock Service Unit Medical Staff By-Laws. Provide professional Family Practice Physician Services in the delivery of direct patient care to the Indian Health Service. Specific tasks may include the following (based on training, experience and desire to perform specific tasks): Exercise and have knowledge of Family Practice Physician Services to outpatients and inpatient department at the Indian Health Service, Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, New Mexico. There are 21 physician members in the Family Medicine department and 9 Physician Assistants organized as 3 Clinical Teams. Overall, contractor would work with 1-4 physician(s) and/or physician assistants in the outpatient clinic Team. The Outpatient Clinic includes walk-in and continuity care clinics would see between 12 and 18 outpatients per day. Minor office surgery procedures may be performed. Inpatient includes Medical Surgical Ward, Pediatric Ward, Intensive Care Unit, Labor & Delivery/Post-partum Ward. Could take night and/or weekend call approximately 2 to 3 times per month. During call back hours the contractor shall cross-cover the inpatient Family Medicine service (4-12 admitted patients), perform emergency Department consults, admit new patients to the hospital (0-3 admissions) and cover Labor and Delivery 0-2 deliveries/night). NNMC is a 60 inpatient bed facility. If caring for inpatient, he or she would round on inpatients as needed. Provide consultation with members of the Family Medicine staff on matters on patient care. Review clinical records and adhere to records documentation procedures to ensure that records are properly maintained. May be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designated Government official. Provision of Family Medicine care shall be monitored by the Northern Navajo Medical Center's quality assurance plan. Requirements: Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Must be Board Eligible or Certified, Board certification in Family Medicine Must have current Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification of Education - copy of diploma or transcripts Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program DEA license and eligibility to prescribe medication Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in family practice preferred Strong diagnostic and clinical skills may require a current drivers license Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team Commitment to patient-centered care Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule Willingness to comply with all state and federal regulations regarding medical practice
