Planner and Lead Planner candidates are encouraged to apply and will be evaluated based on individual experience. We are expanding our planning services in Eastern Washington and North Idaho and seeking a lead or senior professional land use planner to join our Spokane office. Company-wide, J-U-B has an experienced team of certified planners (long range as well as land development), landscape architects, GIS professionals, transportation and environmental planners, that work on a wide variety of projects. This position requires an individual who is excited to be part of a high performing team and has a strong desire to support and lead a broad range of projects throughout the region. This position is intended to directly grow planning services within Eastern Washington/North Idaho communities.

While working with J-U-B's multi-disciplinary project teams, typical tasks and assignments may include: Research, analyze, and prepare comprehensive/general plans, subarea plans, transportation plans, and other land use plans and amendments. Conduct research involving a wide range of topics to support planning and development projects, including collecting, tabulating, analyzing, and interpreting statistical and factual data. Support review of land development proposals for consistency with all relevant plans, guidelines, and regulations. Meet and/or facilitate technical and citizen advisory committees to present, discuss or formulate policy recommendations. Present effectively to public planning committees and commissioners, as well as local decisionmakers. Evaluate and recommend appropriate designations for future land use using zoning and subdivision maps, transportation systems, and other related maps and documents. Prepare proposals for planning projects, create technical approaches, scopes of work including cost proposals, and evaluate specific contract provisions. Collaborate and work efficiently as a team with project managers, planners, public involvement specialists, engineers, and other subject matter experts. Possess expertise to lead project teams as needed. Maintain a positive attitude of cooperation in the performance of work assignments, including adaptability, flexibility, and proactive engagement. Assist the land development team with application preparation, permitting and client coordination. Lead business development efforts in the region for both long- and short-range planning services.

Assist with business development efforts company wide as requested. Support J-U-B's subsidiary The Langdon Group with public involvement services. Requirements:

A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in planning, geography, community development, landscape architecture or related field, or equivalent qualifying experience. 4-8+ years of experience preferred in either public or private sector planning, preparing Comprehensive, General and Specific Plans, implementing or preparing local land use codes or guidelines, and other community development activities. AICP certification desired, AICP certification is required for a Lead Planner. Strong self-motivation, team focus, and ability to push tasks to completion. Strong written/speaking communication, computer, and organizational skills--including technical writing. Experience with the Washington State Growth Management Act. Salary Range: $36.00 to $53.00 per hour for a Planner to Lead Planner, determined by experience.
