Overview

The

Structures Division

of

the

H&K Group, Inc.

is looking for a Bridge Carpenter to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes. The Carpenter will support bridge and other structural projects throughout Northeast PA and the Lehigh Valley. Why work for H&K Group, Inc.? Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard and dimensions of structure of fixture to be fabricated Selects specified type of lumber or other materials Prepares layout Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials Shapes materials to prescribed measurements Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins or glue Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter’s level Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work Covers subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet, ad wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base Applies shock-absorbing, sound-deadening and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, add finish hardware, such as locks, letter drops and kick plates Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience High school diploma or equivalent such as the GED from an accredited educational institution or 1 month of related experience and/or training

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Strong verbal and written communication skills Problem solving Ability to travel as required for projects Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience 3 months of relevant experience and/or training Experience in heavy civil and highway construction OSHA or other relevant safety certifications Physical Demands Regularly required to

Stand Use hands to finger, handle, or feel Reach with hands and arms Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Frequently required to

Walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl Talk and hear Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
