Contents Moving Specialist
is an important member of our restoration
t-e-a-m
as they are responsible for professionally handling, packing, unpacking, wrapping, moving, inventorying, cleaning and returning customer contents that have been affected by water, fire, smoke, mold, sewer or storm damage. This is a labor-intensive position and due to the nature of the work, often the job sites will be dirty, dusty, wet, cold/hot (not climate controlled), scorched by fire and possibly affected by mold.
The position requires working a
fter hours/on-call on a rotational basis above and beyond your normal work day. This may mean nights, weekends and/or holidays . The ideal team member will enthusiastically embrace challenges, have a team spirit and positive attitude, professional work practices and a desire to help others is a necessary requirement for the job. Purpose and Core Values Providing excellent customer service Responsibly drive company vehicles; utilize good judgment and driving skills Efficiently pack-out and/or pack-in furniture and contents to keep item safe and minimize loss Clean furniture and contents using prescribed cleaning techniques. Then re-wrap and pack so they are ready to be returned to the customer Disassemble and reassemble furniture as required Pack a truck so that it is balanced and the load secure. Load and unload contents Set and redistribute contents from warehouse vaults to the contents cleaning room, as necessary Using care and caution at all times Promptly identify and properly handle urgent care items that require immediate attention (i.e., sentimental, highly valuable. medications or frequently used items) Follow company policies for handling specialty items such as; firearms, antiques, sentimental/irreplaceable items, pianos/musical instruments, grandfather clocks, original works of art and other high dollar items, aquariums, pets, electronics, jewelry, medicine, and items of a personal nature Take a photo and written inventory of items and record any marks or damage (photo document). Maintain detailed job notes Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite Daily completion of work orders, inventory sheets, photo/video documentation, paperwork, timecards, and other required paperwork Physical Demands: Heavy Work-
Exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50lbs of force frequently or up to 20lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. In addition: Standing – For sustained periods of time Walking – Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Balancing – Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling. Stooping – Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Kneeling – Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching – Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Crawling – Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Fingering – Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand as in handling. Repetitive Motion – Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Grasping – Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Talking – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately and quickly when necessary. Hearing – Receiving detailed information through oral communication at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Vision – Close visual acuity to perform activities such as; reading, using measurement devices, viewing a smart phone, tablet or other electronic device, assembling, visually inspecting small parts and/or operating machines and tools such as power saws, drills, etc. required to perform skilled trades tasks with or without correction. Vision – Visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work performed with or without correction. Work environment: Work is performed at various jobsites and in a warehouse; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to: Weather and hot/cold temperature changes Dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold Work environments that are not climate controlled Noise Ladders to use for high heights Hazards such as: moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals Atmospheric conditions such as: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. The workspace may be contaminated with heavy smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions Close quarters: crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, attics, etc. Gloves, back brace, respirators, and splash goggles are available for use Job Qualifications: High school diploma/GED Previous experience in cleaning/moving preferred Working knowledge of the best practices of wrapping and packing furniture and contents as well as how to safely move difficult items such as pianos/musical instruments, original works of art, grandfather clocks, electronics, aquariums preferred Working knowledge of the best practices of carrying furniture, cartons, and other items to the moving truck; load and secure items Self-motivated, dependable, and disciplined to stay on task Excellent customer service skills and a team spirit Effective verbal communication skills The ability to work after hours/on-call on a rotational basis. All employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen, background screening and reference check. All employees must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
