Brighton Marine is committed to providing services to our nation's veterans through a nationally recognized health care program, the development of 102-units of middle-income housing and 25 units of HUD VASH housing on campus and evolving into a destination hub for a range of supporting services to ensure veterans and their families the long-term health, housing and help they deserve. Job Overview

We are looking for a Security Officer to provide safety and security needs for our nine-acre campus in Brighton, MA. We have seven buildings and 215,000 square feet of space. The buildings include 127 veterans housing units, 25 single-room occupancies at Veteran Housing at Brighton Marine, leased offices, medical space, Brighton Marine corporate headquarters, and extensive grounds. The Security Officer will provide professional security and customer service for commercial and residential environments.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Wellness Support:

  • Conduct regular wellness checks on residents to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Address and escalate any concerns related to resident welfare to appropriate departments or agencies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop wellness initiatives to foster a safe and supportive environment.
Process Management and Improvement:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage and oversee the security team schedule, ensuring appropriate coverage.
  • Be on-call to fill shifts as needed or respond to emergency situations.
  • Conduct regular audits of security operations and procedures, making updates as necessary.
  • Monitor emerging trends in residential safety and security.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance overall security and wellness programs.
Supervisory and Leadership Duties:
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the security team, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of security staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, security policies, and resident confidentiality standards.
Incident Response and Reporting:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related incidents.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and document findings in detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when required.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role, preferably in security or property management.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols and safety practices.
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and stakeholders to ensure transparency in safety and wellness initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, working closely with property management, resident support teams, and external agencies.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies with a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Experience with scheduling, team management, and policy development.
  • Emotional resilience to potentially encounter deceased individuals
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in security or safety management (e.g., CPP, PSP).
  • Background in social work, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proficiency with access control systems, security technologies and reporting software.
Work Environment and Schedule:
  • Onsite, typically Monday-Friday 8:30 - 5:00pm.
  • On-call availability for emergencies or shift coverage.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends or holidays.
