IB Appliances US Holdings LLC is hiring: Product Development Engineer in Downers

Position Summary:

The Product Development Engineer will primarily be responsible for the management and execution of assigned product development projects within Instant Pot Brands portfolio. The Product Development Engineer will be involved at all levels of the product development and introduction process including product design, cost estimation, developing project timelines and goals, design changes to product, evaluating prototypes against functional, marketing and cost requirements, managing the prototype testing and transitioning the projects to manufacturing. This person will interact with internal customers and suppliers in efforts to accelerate their assigned new product development projects. Additionally, the role will collaborate with all other stakeholders including Research & Development, Sourcing, Global Business Units and Suppliers, to ensure the smooth execution from product initiation, development, new product introduction (NPI) to maintenance support cycle.

What will you do?

• Support research, design, development, testing, and delivery of products for Instant Pot Brands
• Evaluate and Test internal and competitive items across defined criteria; Define the test criteria and write conclusive test reports
• Confer with vendors to determine and set product specifications and evaluate against requirement expectations and quality standards
• Partner with Marketing, Industrial Design, User Experience, and Manufacturing colleagues to develop innovative items and optimize workflow.
• Manage and own Product Cost, Time, and Quality standards throughout the development cycle
• Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls
• Solve mechanical engineering & design problems
• Work with the intellectual property team and serve as a technical liaison to the company’s patent council
• Examine documents, manuals, instructions, labels, etc. to verify completeness and accuracy of data
• Investigate new equipment/technology possibilities as well as new design concepts that would fit into the business strategy, focusing on functional and cost goals.
• Provide thought leadership from a technical perspective to help drive product pipeline and innovation
• Use Instant Pot Brands’ appliances and become an expert in product categories: research, test, tinker, etc.

Who we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
• 5+ years of directly relevant industry experience in product development
• CAD design experience (Solidworks preferred)
• Demonstrated experience with some or all of the following: Electro-Mechanical Design, Complex Mechanism Design, Design for Human Factors, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), Plastic Part Manufacturing, Product Testing
• Demonstrated experience with project management, specifically working with overseas vendors
• Effective Decision Maker: Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision, and quick learner of new technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Creative in finding solutions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to interact with customers with accuracy and professionalism
• Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and communicate in a courteous and professional manner
