Position Summary

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to support transitioning new products from R&D to production and improve manufacturability of existing products. The Product Development Engineer will be engaged with new products, product redesign, and helping develop and implement fabrication and assembly processes with manufacturing support staff. Candidate must be self-motivating, expected to use their engineer skillset to solve problems, and have a mind for product and process continual improvement. Products range from low-rate, high-mix, and high-precision components, complex systems and assemblies for military and high-end applications, to high-rate commercial-sector items.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) - Required
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation - Required
  • Design of production tooling/fixtures for quality and assembly consistency
  • Set up and support of new product lines
  • General knowledge of various fabrication/manufacturing processes such as: CNC machining, sheet metal cutting/forming, injection molding, rotational molding, tube assembly fabrication, etc...
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T - ASME Y14.5)

Specific responsibilities

  • DFM: Redesign existing products for manufacturability and assist R&D in new designs before reaching production.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for issues/changes identified during production
  • Plan, design and implement manufacturing and assembly processes for new product development
  • Work with design engineers to determine critical-to-function features and determine best methods to ensure quality and reliability while maintaining ease of manufacturing/assembly
  • Determine parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications
  • Design tooling and fixturing for production and quality control
  • Developing assembly work instructions and manufacturing traveler

Position Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 3.3 minimum GPA
  • 2+ years of experience minimum preferred
  • US Citizenship required due to strict ITAR regulations
