Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experience Estimator/Project Manager for a direct hire position with a machine shop located in Hillsboro, OR. The person in this position responsible for accurately assessing the cost and time required for the manufacture of CNC machined parts and assemblies, customer communication, and internal coordination.

Pay: $32-$40/hr depending on experience

Estimator/Product Engineer Responsibilities:

•Develop and deliver the proposed manufacturing process with all requirements identified, beginning at quotes for parts and sub-assemblies to finalized product process.

•Cost Estimation: Utilize knowledge of machining processes, materials, and labor to accurately estimate the cost of producing CNC machined parts.

•Material Assessment: Analyze material requirements based on design specifications and quantities needed for production.

•Labor Calculation: Calculate labor costs base on machining time, setup time, tooling requirements and other relevant factors.

•Quote Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive quotes for clients based on cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and profitability.

•Technical Evaluation: Collaborate with suppliers to obtain accurate pricing materials, tolling and outsourced processes.

•Purchasing Coordination: Coordinate with Buyers to obtain accurate pricing for materials, tooling and outsourced processes.

•Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve cost estimation processes, such as implementing new tools or methodologies, to enhance quality and efficiency.

•Documentation: Maintain detailed records of cost estimates, quotes and related communications for future reference and analysis.

•Structure routings for cost-effective manufacturing.

•Estimate accurate operation sequence setup and run times.

•Holds technical reviews on assigned quotes and completes the risk assessment with support from the review team.

•Provides timely information for the documentation and customer teams to ensure successful quotes and system setup.

•Develop product routings based on customer design.

•Identify potential manufacturing problems and create functional prototypes offering a solution.

•Coordinate prototype submissions with relevant personnel for approval.

•Manage the budget requirements for projects.

•Work directly with Manufacturing Engineering team expert resources to co-develop and refine the manufacturing process and strategy.

•Support the new product introduction team formation readiness and the recommendation for Production release.

Estimator/Product Engineer Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.

•Estimating experience in a machine shop/contract manufacturing environment.

•3-5 years of relevant experience within a production, supply chain, manufacturing machine shop or contract manufacturing environment.

•Strong understanding of the manufacturing process.

•Experience with complex routings and multi-level Bill of Materials (BOM) structures.

•High level of skill in reading mechanical and assembly drawings.

•Intermediate Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

•Prior experience as a CNC Machinist preferred.
