Position Description: The Manual Tester, 508 Compliance assesses software quality and 508 compliance standards through manual testing. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Minimum/General Experience: 5 years of manual testing and 508 compliance experience
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Above average experience as a quality assurance (QA) tester performing manual testing
- Above average experience with 508 compliance testing
- Above average experience in QA and Agile methodologies
- Above average ability to document and troubleshoot errors
- Working knowledge of test management software (e.g., Jira, GitHub and Rational)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Above average analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude
Security: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years
Federal Civilian Public Trust Consists of a review of up to but not limited to:
- Covers 5-10 year period and in some instances lifetime events
- OPM Security Investigations Index (SII)
- DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)
- National Agency Check (NAC) records
- FBI name check
- FBI fingerprint check
- Credit report check
- Written inquiries to previous employers and references listed on the application for employment
- Potential interviews with the subject, spouse, neighbors, supervisor, coworkers
- Law enforcement check
- Court records check
- Education check- Attendance and Degrees
Tasks/activities include, but are not limited to:
- Manually tests systems and/or applications for 508 compliance requirements
- Evaluates product code according to specifications and 508 compliance requirements
- Documents and reports accessibility issues and supports remediation recommendations
- Works with accessibility testing tools
- Collaborates with Business Analysts, Test Engineers and Test Planners/Managers to develop effective test strategies, test plans, and procedures
- Executes manual test cases and analyzes results
- Creates logs to document testing phases and defects and confirms that requirements are verified, validated, and meets 508 compliance
- Reports bugs and errors to development teams
- Helps troubleshoot issues
- Conducts post-release/ post-implementation testing
- Works with cross-functional teams and ensures quality throughout the software development lifecycle
- Configures necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing
- Manages the defect database and/or logs
Compensation & Benefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $55,124 - $170,450 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
