Summary of Position: The Product Owner I is the lead member of the product management organization in the teams. The Product Owner I represents the product team in the tactical development/delivery process. The Product Owner I ensures that the product functionality is created in the order and manner that represents the best approach from the perspective of the business, product, and technical teams. The Product Owner I will have a customer-first mindset and focus on what is possible vs. what is standard practice in the industry. Essential Functions: Own the relationship between product management and the teams Represent and share the product vision with the scrum teams Lead the Functional Grooming of the user stories Represent the product team in planning meetings, Technical Grooming, daily Scrum meetings, Retrospectives, and Demos Serve as the focal point for any inquiries from the team Confirm that technical architecture and technical design aligns with the short-term and long-term product vision Inspire technical teams to innovate and create industry-leading solutions while balancing immediate product plans Understand and contribute to the end-to-end customer experience. Create and maintain the user story backlog Define and create the user story structure - themes, epics, etc. Create user stories for the product functionality and desired customer experience Prioritize user stories in the backlog Coordinate with technical teams to finalize the list of user stories Coordinate with the UI design team to ensure consistency and alignment between design assets and user stories Execute the acceptance process for user stories Lead resolution of issues impacting the success Provide backlog status to product management team leadership Competencies: Ensures Accountability Tech Savvy Communicates Effectively Values Differences Customer Focus Resourcefulness Drives Results Plans and Prioritizes Decision Quality Self-Development Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine, and printer. Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25 lbs across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs. Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma Required 3-5 years of experience Qualifications: Prior experience as a business analyst role on an Agile product team Product owner experience with mobile applications (iOS and Android) Managed relationships with technical and UI/UX design teams in the delivery of the product Experience with Jira and Rally Agile tools.
