Summary
As the technical leader, the manufacturing engineer is responsible for customer consult/design of producible product as well as the development of the efficient methods with which to deliver them. This individual leads the respective design, methods development, and process improvement initiatives
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Manufacturing Process Owner
The manufacturing engineer will be the technical expert of manufacturing processes. They will be expected to use their expertise to support all other functions of the organization.
Main point of contact for production in their area
Support Product Engineer in developing manufacturing methods
Document all standard work practices for their area
Create product specific work instructions
Assist estimators on quotes for new product
Create and maintain equipment capability documents to assist sales and estimating
Train manufacturing
Continuous Improvement
Leadership
Communication
Design and Development

- Track improvement ideas
- Evaluate and prioritize projects based on difficulty, impact, and time to implement
- Specify equipment needed for new projects or improvements
- Create justifications for equipment and improvement projects
- Review and update production layouts to improve efficiency
- Implement new equipment by testing, documenting requirements, and training personnel
Leadership
- Leads the cost savings and process improvement initiatives within the respective area to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and lead time improvement initiatives are met
- Leads / participates in cross functional teams to define and resolve manufacturing challenges able to put action plans in place to correct
- Highly accountable and able to hold other accountable
Communication
- Training manufacturing personnel on new manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Keep equipment operational by coordinating with maintenance and repair services
- Teaches team members the methods for manufacturing customer products, new products and assists new team member on boarding
- Communicates the launch of new/revised products, training team members and enhancing process results
- Communicates with the business unit leadership on the status of new products and progress improvement initiatives
Design and Development
- Design and implement tooling/fixturing needed for production of new products
- Develop and test new manufacturing processes
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors degree in related engineering field Industrial, mechanical, electrical
- 3-5 years experience in manufacturing environment
Skills
- Proficient using Microsoft office suites (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point, etc.)
- SolidWorks - design capability
- Clear understanding of drawings, layouts and GD&T
- Critical thinking & decision making
- Ability to analyze large amounts of information.
Competencies
- Excellent command of basic leadership skills, able to set goals, work independently and with a team
- Clear command of lean and flow principles for low volume wide variety manufacturing
