Job Summary
The Director, Manufacturing Operations will be a key role in overseeing and leading all manufacturing operations to support the overall business objectives of profitable growth by driving continuous improvement of productivity, delivery and cost in a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
Job Description
Develop, mentor and empower staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; create and maintain a positive work environment. Build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the teams are appropriately staffed with required competencies. Responsible for decisions regarding hires, promotions, corrective action and terminations.
Provide leadership for the plastics manufacturing operations. Ensure efficient operations with minimum equipment downtime. This includes Continuous Improvement processes in manufacturing and warehouse, robust Preventative Maintenance program and Training program.
Ensure a safe, secure, and clean working environment by establishing and implementing procedures, rules and regulations; monitor all production-related safety and security systems and procedures regularly. Conduct regular safety meetings and review the effectiveness of programs and processes. Manage all capital expenditures.
Oversee all aspects of raw material and component inventory management. Support contract negotiations with vendors (raw material and equipment).
Directly manage the following functions: Warehouse, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Training, Maintenance/Tooling.
Lead and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve project objectives, annual targets, etc., e.g., with corporate supply chain, sourcing, HR and other manufacturing locations.
Accountable for annual operational expenses with expectation of preparing annual budgets and executing accordingly. Additionally, oversee preparation and management of capital expenditures for the plant.
Create, maintain, and report production status through solid visuals such as KPI boards.
Serve as a coach and role model to direct reports for problem solving, leadership, and other CI activities.
Support resolution of customer complaints by maintaining liaison with local and Divisional Quality staff, and facility staff to investigate and resolve quality issues. Serve as plant leader for all internal and external quality audits.
Required Experience:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Business.
Work Experience:
At least 8 years of experience in a production environment.
At least 5 years of experience managing people in a production environment, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience in leading plastic injection molding manufacturing plants or teams.
