The Operations Analyst is responsible for supporting the management of institutional investment portfolios. The Operations team at Strategic plays a critical role supporting the investment team and clients by processes transactions, managing client cash, updating our portfolio records, coordinating activity between managers and custodians, and generating performance results for assessing portfolio performance. We seek an energetic individual with an accounting and/or finance background and a desire to learn the many facets of operational support in a collegial team environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Update, monitor, and review Strategic investment book of record (IBOR), managing daily and monthly portfolio valuations, reviewing performance results, and ensuring accurate reporting of Strategic’s performance to clients.
- Identify, research, and resolve transactional discrepancies
- Develop expertise in understanding Strategic’s performance results to be able to respond to internal and external inquiries on portfolio performance with quantitative analysis, such as performance attribution, where appropriate.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of Strategic’s cash and positions against custodian records. Liaise between portfolio managers and custodians to ensure accuracy of portfolio-specific activity and issues.
- Assist in the coordination of client investment transitions and new investment and manager setup, including custodians, prime brokers and counterparties.
- Support the processing, booking, settling, and reconciliation of direct and manager trades, including derivatives.
- Aggregate, enter, and prepare capital calls for approval and execution.
- Prepare custom accounting and other reports for use by clients’ accounting groups.
- Record client daily and monthly transactions and cash activities into transaction system and review them against the values at the custodian(s).
- Actively participates and leads team initiatives, operational improvements, system releases related to operations team.
- Identifies procedural or operational inefficiencies; recommends and coordinates process improvement solutions.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline.
- 1-3 years of work experience in fund accounting/administration, performance analytics, investment operations, or portfolio management support role.
- Experience with external financial custodians a plus.
- Preferred CPA or experience in an accounting role.
- Working understanding of derivatives, including futures a plus.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Ability to learn and master various software programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills.
