General Description and Classification Standards
The Watershed Construction Maintenance Worker II (Distribution) is a lead worker for semi-skilled construction and/or maintenance work to support a variety of drinking water or distribution system activities. Operates hand and power tools, light to medium construction equipment, etc., and is part of a larger crew working with skilled trade employees, experienced equipment operators, technicians, and crew supervisors. May also work alone or act as a lead worker on a crew for construction or maintenance activities. May assist in training, orientation, or observing junior associates, apprentices, or semi-skilled employees
Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written/verbal instructions to accomplish assigned tasks; may assist in training, orienting, or observing lower-level associate, apprentice, or semi-skilled employee in the group.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Completes assigned work orders correctly and on time
- Works with supervisor to prioritize work orders
- Works in a safe and organized manner to ensure safety for self, crew, and the public
- Works as part of and/or leads a crew to:
- inspect and repair water mains, valves, and hydrants
- place flags or cones to control traffic in case of water line break repairs
- make water tap on water mains
- installation of water meters, valves, and hydrants
- operate and administer general maintenance on fire hydrants
- locate water service connections and water main lines
- Follows assigned route/schedule, advises customer of installation, records meter number and other required information, and time it took to complete job
- Visits construction sites to verify work completed by contractor
- Checks utility truck to ensure proper equipment and tools are present and in working order

Generally, operates under the specific direction of crew supervisors. May assist in the task of guiding work of less experienced employees. Selects from multiple standardized procedures, written instructions, and methods to accomplish assigned tasks.

Ability to work productively on a team and provide guidance to lower-level team members as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- General site safety of water operations and maintenance, methods, products, tools, and equipment used in water maintenance and construction work
- Operates a variety of maintenance of tools and equipment (pumping equipment, jack hammer)
- Understands and applies DWM policies, procedures, and regulations
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with customers
- Works after normal working hours, as required
- Communicates with customers to successfully address issue
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Three (3) years of experience in construction and/or maintenance in a water distribution system
- Three (3) years of experience with making meter and fire hydrant taps on the main
Licensures and Certifications
- State of Georgia Driver’s License Class C (Required)
- State of Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B (Preferred)
- Water Distribution License (Preferred)
