Paint Prep Helper

A paint prepper prepares Ag Machinery body or other surface for painting. Job duties include all aspects of preparation. Your responsibilities involve steps such as the removal of dirt from the surface and parts due for painting. You may sand, polish, retouch, buff, degrease, or otherwise clean the surface. You may also mix color, blend paint, and load paint into spray-painting equipment. A paint prepper may sometimes need to apply primer to the surface to prepare and protect it until the painters perform their job.

Pay Rate - $18.00
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Thoroughly reviews each order prior to beginning work on Ag Machinery.
2. Completes all paint preparation processes for Ag Machinery according to factory specifications and Laird Manufacturing policies. May prime, edge or jam replacement parts.
3. Knows how to properly sand and prep for paint, new parts and blend panels.
4. Knows how to properly sand and featheredge surface for primer
5. Troubleshoot production errors and communicate issues with team leaders.
6. Able to mask and spray the correct amount and coats of primer
7. Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
8. Contributes to maintaining acceptable cost per paint labor hour
9. Knows status of assigned Ag Machinery and helps problem solve on getting and keeping all Ag Machinery on schedule on-time delivery
10. Consistently utilizes all required safe equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines
11. Adheres to all requirements hazardous waste disposal
12. Follow vendors procedures to maintain all tools and requirement, including maintenance of paint booth and prep booth filters
13. Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on paint equipment and safety equipment.
14. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
15. Maintain a clean and organized work space
16. Operate forklift for the paint production line (only if certified).
17. Willing to work overtime both daily and weekends.
18. Performs other duties assigned by management

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES •Perform resupply of inventory on parts. •Provide on-the-job training to new employees. •Order materials from other work areas when needed. Maintain material supply adhering to just in time and lean manufacturing principles. •Maintain VOC logs
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic reading, writing in English and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
WORKING/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
1. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
2. Ability to perform repetitive tasks; manual dexterity
3. Vision abilities required include close, distance, and depth perception
4. 30 to 40 percent of the job requires lifting carrying holding and manipulating objects and periodic lifting and carrying objects over 50 pounds
5. Reaching above and below shoulder level with no restrictions.
6. Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect repairs
7. Able to push and pull
8. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Especially: skill and ease in using both hands
9. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, high level of dust and noise in repair center
10. MUST be able to wear protective equipment, including respirator
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 70 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
