Working within Rebekah Children's Services provides psychiatric services to clients and acts as an advisor to staff and treatment teams. This position is also responsible for clinical relationships with consulting psychiatrists, clinicians, and program directors. This position provides psychiatric care to outpatient clients who may be enrolled in programs serving those ages 0-21 years of age with varying treatment needs. This position is responsible for acting within agency, State and Federal guidelines of care. Works in collaboration with members of the Executive Team and/or the Directors Team to develop clinical content and ensures all clinical programs are in compliance. Performance of the typical responsibilities and duties requires the ability to explain, instruct, persuade, and negotiate with others involving job-related matters and quality client care.
Essential Job Functions:
Plans and directs aspects of Rebekah Children's Services' psychiatric procedures. Manages the clinical relationships with consulting psychiatrists/physicians when needed Interacts with clinical program directors, therapists, and other staff members, as appropriate, providing guidance if/when needed. Works in collaboration with the members of the Executive Team and/or members of the Directors Team to develop clinical content and ensure all clinical programs are in compliance. Works in conjunction with a treatment team to help ensure that there are appropriate staff interventions and care provided to benefit clients. Increases the clients' family health care knowledge and skills. Participates in clinical assessments, diagnoses disorders, and approves and contributes to the treatment plans for all clients receiving medication evaluations, support, and/or monitoring. Provides psychiatric services as needed on assigned cases to include timely completion of psychiatric assessments, medical evaluation/monitoring, and corresponding documentation. Prescribes medications as necessary. Consults regarding the training and development of those providing care to clients. Ensures compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, and laws to ensure that the best interests of the agency are kept in mind while providing quality health care, liaison with all Executive Team members, and department Directors to ensure the agency's objectives are met. Consults and contributes to the implementation of a best practice program, maintaining a consistent level of quality of care offered to clients. Responsible for activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services including but not limited to cost management, utilization review, quality assurance and medical protocol development. Addresses psychiatric emergency issues. Supports the after-hours crisis team when necessary. Ensures that a safe work environment for the staff and clients is maintained. Collaborates with medical peers in the interest of sharing resources and ideas to provide clients with quality care. Acts as liaison with primary care providers Attends and completes all trainings and classes required for employment at RCS. Completes continuing education requirements as necessary within required time limits; and does all that is required to keep clinical license active and clear. Attends appropriate city/state meetings as necessary/assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience
MD from an accredited University. California Medical Board-certified psychiatrist with current DEA Practitioner registration. Minimum 8 years' experience working in a patient (preferably children) psychiatric setting as a psychiatrist. License
Current and clear license to practice medicine in California. Valid California driver's license. Knowledge and Skills
Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have excellent organization and reporting skills. Must have excellent research and writing skills. Familiar with current concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of psychiatry, preferably in the area of child and adolescent psychiatry. Special Requirements
Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII licensing regulations Must be able to be insured by RCS insurance carrier for transportation of residents and maintain that insurability. Must be able to be insured by a professional liability insurance company. Physical and Mental Requirements
The following are required in day-to-day performance of the duties of this position:
Sitting, walking, standing, grasping (simple), and visual/auditory are constantly required (over 2/3 of the workday). Bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, lifting, reaching, and pushing/pulling are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday). In case the case of intervention, must be able to lift or retrain up to 40 lbs. Climbing and crawling are generally not required. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
