The Vice President of Retail Operations is responsible for developing and implementing retail growth strategies, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring a premium customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive retail growth strategy, including the opening of new stores and enhancing the performance of existing locations.
- Collaborate with the executive team to align retail expansion with broader company goals, including omnichannel strategies and partnerships.
- Work cross-functionally to help drive retail initiatives while taking retail projects from ideation to completion.
- Oversee day-to-day retail operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and consistency in the customer experience across all locations.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and optimize retail performance.
- Implement best practices in inventory management, supply chain coordination, and operational workflows.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing retail team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
- Develop leadership capabilities within the retail organization through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Ensure a premium customer experience in every store, enhancing the in-store environment to reflect the Verve brand and values.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to create and execute retail promotions, loyalty programs, and local store marketing initiatives.
- Analyze customer feedback and trends to continuously improve the in-store experience and drive customer LTV.
- Lead budgeting and financial planning for the retail division, ensuring alignment with overall company financial goals.
- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve profitability, manage costs, and maximize revenue.
- Accountable for controllable expenses, cash management, merchandising, and loss prevention strategies at a system level.
- Oversee pricing strategies, P&L management, and sales forecasting.
- Assess key business risks and develop contingency plans.
- Serve as a change agent within the organization always looking for areas where improvements in service may be needed; implements processes, procedures and/or changes to address these issues.
- Drive innovation in customer experience and product offerings to continue leading the competitive retail landscape.
- Ensure compliance of the company to federal, state, and company regulations and standards for training, product freshness, food safety, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of retail, multi-unit or grocery management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of driving sales and profitability in a retail environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Flexible with the ability to multitask in a highly demanding environment.
- Responsive, proactive, resourceful, solution-oriented, self-directed, highly reliable.
- Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency; track record of capably managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
