Senior Environmental/Remediation Engineer - ( 240002X2 ) Description Stantec is seeking a Senior Environmental/Remediation Engineer in the Walnut Creek, CA office. As a Senior Environmental/Remediation Engineer, your role on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on large projects of high complexity, and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for participating in and leading multi-disciplinary groups to successfully and efficiently execute projects and consulting services resulting in client satisfaction and on-time delivery. In this role, you will research, design, plan, and perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. You will prepare and approve proposals and cost estimates and present project work in client meetings, cultivate relationships with client organizations, provide work leadership and training to more junior professional and technical staff, and provide technical guidance to less experienced professionals or technicians assigned to work on projects in the environmental engineering practice. You will use and apply advanced engineering principles and have a working knowledge of advanced technical research. The role requires a Professional Licensed Engineer and active participation in local professional organization(s). Your Key Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of remedial actions consisting of technology screening and selection, pilot testing, remedial design, and remedial system installation, start-up, operation, monitoring and maintenance (OM&M), and shutdown. Perform more advanced engineering design tasks on assigned projects under minimal supervision, including reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies. Lead the preparation of technical reports including remedial action and remedial design work plans, pilot test work plans and summary reports, and summary reports of remedial progress, implementation, recommendations. Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of engineering calculations, detailed design drawings, and technical specifications. Coordinate and lead field investigations and related field activities involving site inspections, environmental monitoring and sampling, pilot testing, data collection (soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling), and treatment system OM&M. Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for small size projects, and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts. Collaborate with stakeholders in client project meetings and with internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors in preparation and coordination of project work. Collaborate with environmental engineers, geologists, scientists, chemists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, other specialists and experts in law and business to address environmental problems. Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource to other team members. Apply advanced knowledge of current principles and practices of environmental engineering and keep informed of new methods and developments. Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve complex issues where precedent may be limited. Assist and/or lead the development of proposals and contract negotiation. May supervise the work of other project resources, including setting the project budget and staff schedules for completing the work in conjunction with Project Manager(s). Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Expert level understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. Experience with client communications including proposal response and submittal, presentations, status meetings, and resolving issues. Experience with regulatory agencies including the EPA, RWQCB, DTSC, AQMD and others to present project data, provide project/regulatory compliance updates, and respond to comments on reports and technical memos. Exercise independent judgement to resolve complex problems, analyze and interpret scientific data and information, and select methods and solutions to resolve problems. Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project execution and document production. Ability to manage technical aspects of multiple projects/task orders simultaneously. Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule. Participates and collaborates in a project team setting to engage in creative and critical thought. Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems. Thorough understanding of engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others. Provides technical leadership in moderate- to large-scale projects that are part of a larger program with significant capital budgets. Strong communication and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Education and Experience Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Water Resources, or Mechanical Engineering. 10 - 15 years of environmental engineering experience. Licensed Professional Engineer required (Civil preferred). Current OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER certification. Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Salary Range(s): SF Area $123,700 - SF Area $185,600 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC) The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
