This position will require access to ITAR and/or EAR controlled technical data, technology or source code, and requires that all individuals in this role be authorized to access such information. General Description: The Estimator reports to the Director of Sales and Programs. The Estimator is responsible for estimating product costs for incoming RFQ's. Strong estimating and product costing skills are required. The Estimator works closely with REDAR's Program-Product Managers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Cost Accounting teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Primary Responsibilities: Oversee the quoting process to establish cost estimates for approval by Product & Program Managers Prepare cost workups for requests over and under the TINA threshold Develop price lists as required for Mill-room and Hose products Support the preparation of LTA's "Long term pricing agreements" Responsible for obtaining information from Program & Product Managers, Supply Chain, Cost Accounting, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing for the support data needed for cost workups Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent manufacturing/engineering experience Estimating, product costing, and negotiating experience in the defense industry is desirable Truth in Negotiation Act (TINA) and applicable Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) clause knowledge is desirable Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing standards and practices Ability to proficiently interpret technical documents (e.g. drawings, parts lists, & specifications) Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Program Managers and customers Proficient computer and applications software skills: Microsoft Office programs including MS Project, Excel, Power Point and IQMS Specific Tasks and Focus Areas: Oversee quoting process Maintain current process/develop new and/or improve existing cost estimating tools and procedures Train applicable parties including Program/Product Managers on the quoting process Initiate labor/materials collection requests and work with appropriate parties to maintain throughput data Prepare proposals for requests over/under TINA threshold Prepare requests for equitable adjustment Facilitate development of long-term agreements with Product/Program Managers Support negotiation process Ensure Electronic Quote Folder and Quote Log file is maintained with required data As requested report out data analysis of the Quote Log Prepare proposals for requests over the TINA threshold Determine and if necessary define overall scope of work with appropriate parties Collect, analyze, and compute labor, material, and scrap data Collect and assemble back-up data to include 15-2 tables As required, work up revised cost and schedule estimates Present proposals to applicable parties (e.g. Program/Product Managers, Director of Sales & Programs, etc.) Prepare proposals for requests under the TINA threshold Determine and if necessary define overall scope of work with appropriate parties Collect, analyze, and compute labor, material, and scrap data Collect and assemble back-up data As required, work up revised cost and schedule estimates Present proposals to applicable parties (e.g. Program/Product Managers, Director of Sales & Programs, etc.) Develop price lists for Mill-room and Hose products with the Program/Product Managers Develop Millroom (compound) price lists Develop Hose price lists Generate and maintain supporting documents and tables for price lists Miscellaneous Support Customer visits/travel with Program/Product Managers as it relates to proposals Support Department scorecard goals relating to the estimating process R.E.
