Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
Experience with full-stack development (i.e., iOS, Android or backend) on user-facing products.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
Experience with leading high-performing teams built on empathy and work-life balance.
Ability to be comfortable in cross-functional and cross-organizational communication and collaboration.
Passionate consumer or creator of Live Streaming on YouTube or other platforms.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead our strategic Live Mobile Creation team, shaping the future of live video through creation tools that empower YouTube creators to seamlessly go live from their mobile devices. You will manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, oversee the deployment of large-scale projects, and contribute to product strategy.
Your responsibilities will include:
Setting and communicating team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.
Aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
Setting clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role.
Developing the mid-term technical direction and roadmap within the scope of your team(s).
Designing, guiding, and vetting systems designs within the broader area.
Reviewing code developed by other engineers and providing feedback to ensure best practices.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
