We are looking for passionate, skilled, and experienced ML engineers and data scientists to join Wherobots’ dynamic team in building the distributed geospatial cloud products of the future. Wherobots offers a fully-managed cloud platform designed to simplify geospatial analytics and AI applications. Our platform empowers customers to analyze massive amounts of planetary data by leveraging deep learning and machine learning models. With powerful, user-friendly features like scene classification, object detection, and change detection, we make it easier for users to extract valuable insights from petabytes of data. As an AI/ML engineer in our WherobotsDB & WherobotsAI team, you will work alongside seasoned AI/ML practitioners and strategists to help design and build Wherobots' ML and AI platform to enable those large-scale, real-world geospatial use cases. Responsibilities

Define, implement, and maintain the systems and data architecture for Wherobots' ML and AI platform Inform our product roadmap and product development around the integration of ML capabilities in WherobotsDB and Wherobots Cloud, with a customer-first and use case-driven mindset Build technology around distributed geospatial model training and inference, integrated into Wherobots' technology and products Build, train, and fine-tune geospatial foundation models Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, identify technical solutions, and deliver high-quality software Make open-source contributions to Apache Sedona, PyTorch, and other open-source software packages where necessary Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in geospatial and AI/ML technologies Qualifications

Strong technical background, including 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing geospatial AI/ML pipelines and systems Proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow required A proven track record of building high-quality and maintainable software, and delivering AI/ML-enabled products and features to enterprise customers in production Solid understanding of cloud-deployed software architectures, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively in a hybrid or distributed team environment Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Nice to have: Hands-on experience programming in Java or Scala If this description resonates with you, even at 70%, we strongly encourage you to apply! Compensation and benefits

Wherobots offers competitive compensation, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is $175k-$250k per year. Although we aim to establish a primary engineering presence in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Seattle, we provide flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location, seniority, skills, and experience of the candidate.
