The Desktop Engineer will report to the Manager of IT Systems. The Desktop Engineer will work with the Server and Service Delivery teams on all aspects of desktop and laptop hardware, docking stations, connectivity, application testing, imaging, and inventory.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating System, VMWare, Active Directory, PC Hardware and Wired and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Duties & responsibilities:
The selected candidate will work across multiple functional areas when building desktop / laptop images.
Working with the Server and Applications teams to test any major Windows Operating System releases with existing applications to make sure any major upgrades do not cause an interruption to the business.
The Desktop Engineer will work closely with the imaging technician to ensure systems are being built and ready for deployment.
The Desktop Engineer will act as a support for the desktop technicians when there are hardware problems
Design, implement, administer and maintain desktop and laptop images for all models of hardware supported by the client
Be responsible for ordering necessary desktop hardware working closely with IT and Procurement groups and maintaining enough stock to support user requests
Work with our inventory system to monitor equipment in the field and in stock
Be responsible for coordinating hardware repairs and electronic disposal of obsolete equipment
Work as a technical resource for all infrastructure teams whenever called upon
Perform hardware and software troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose problems
Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the Authority's "Driven by Customer Service" quality standard
Adhere to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies
Perform related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
2 - 3 years in a desktop engineering role or equivalent
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems
Proven ability to develop detailed end-user desktop and technology design.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with business and IT colleagues.
Proven technology experience in building and maintaining image fundamentals
