About this Role NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an enthusiastic Process Engineer to join the Professional Engineering Consulting team. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team of designers and professional engineers who specialize in Energy Projects. What You'll Do The Process Engineer for this position will aid in the development of process design parameters including design concept, engineering criteria, equipment specifications, equipment selections, code interpretations and analysis as it pertains to the design of Energy Processing Facilities and Pipelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ENGINEERING Perform engineering calculations, and execute design activities necessary to satisfy the following Process/Process Controls project elements: Developing industry standards calculations for systems such as chemical balance, pipe flow rates, compression, maximum intended inventory, and over pressure protection Develop sizing information and generate data sheets for various process equipment. Independent generation of process and controls schematics, including: Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) PFD with Mass Balance Ensure compliance with Company and Industry Standards General experience in the detailed design or selection of the following equipment/systems: Compressor Stations Meter Stations Crude Oil Booster Pump Stations Storage Facilities Centrifugal Pump Design Meters, Restrictive Orifices, and Control Valves Gas Sweetening, Dehydration, and Conditioning Design Process Filters (Vertical/Horizontal), Mixers, Strainers Utility System Design (Fuel Gas, Air and Nitrogen) Safety Equipment Systems Fire Suppression System Design Vapor Recovery Units Chemical Injection Flare and Relief Systems Design Truck and Rail Loading and Unloading Familiarity in the application of the following codes/standards: Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199, 40 CFR 112, 40 CFR 264 ASME BPVC-VII Pressure Vessel API 620, API 650, API 12C Tank Design Piping Design Systems, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 API 610 Pumps, Centrifugal pumps (1hp to 10,000 hp) API 674/675/676, Positive Displacement Pumps API 682, Shaft Sealing Systems for Centrifugal and Rotary Pumps Mechanical Seal Design Systems API 520/521 Pressure Relief Devices ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8 DELIVERABLE/PROJECT MANAGEMENT Coordinate and communicate project-specific process deliverables with team members of all disciplines. Research, review, and design integration of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes as it pertains to project deliverables. Perform independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables. Review other discipline deliverables to ensure process designs are properly executed and align with project objectives. Perform field related work to obtain design pertinent information as needed. Review and respond to project RFI’s throughout project-life. Review of detailed third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended design. Strong work ethic and ability to establish priorities among drawing deliverables. Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with engineering and design teams of other disciplines. Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as presentation skills EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Petroleum or Chemical Engineering Engineer in training (E.I.T) certificate in the State of Texas Minimum 3+ years of experience in the following software/programs: Pipe-Flo and/or Aspen HYSYS and/or UNISIM, capable of model development AutoCAD, capable of independent PID development Microsoft Office Suite Minimum 3+ years of experience in the midstream energy or petrochemical sector.
