We have an opportunity for a skilled Senior Applications Engineer for our top-rated law firm client in their New York office. The ideal candidate will be the technical leader of the firm's document management system (DMS). This is a highly-skilled technical position contributing to the strategy, growth, health, security and day to day support of the entire DMS ecosystem. This includes, but is not limited to, iManage Work10, RAVN, Milan, email filing, integrations, mobility, and related systems and tools. The Senior Applications Engineer will be instrumental in the implementation of any new DMS deployment initiatives. This person will also focus on building stronger relationships and efficiencies between the IT and the business departments. This role is part of the newly formed Applications team. It is an opportunity to help lead the introduction of various new technologies at the firm and be part of a growing and dynamic team. We are looking for an energetic, high performing individual with the passion and aptitude to learn new technologies, along with the communication and management skills to work independently and deliver new solutions to the business. This individual should be organized, accountable and maintain a strong focus on customer service. What You'll Do: Manage enterprise applications such as iManage Work, IDOL, RAVN, Communication Server, Preview Server, Insight, Lexsoft T3, Work 10 and Web Client, Control Center, and Milan across the firm and business departments; Technical lead for RAVN; Specialize in SQL development as it related to the iManage database and associated tools and applications; Specialize in iManage architecture including all application modules, servers, databases, and integrations/APIs/Walls as well as an understanding of related infrastructure such as VMWare, disk storage, and network connections; Specialize in admin tools such as iManage Control Center, iManage native tools, Litera Milan, Power Desktop, and CAM, automation, and scripting; Serve as subject matter expert on iManage 10 and related products/solutions, act as technical lead on key initiatives and collaborate closely with other team members on deliverables; Patching, research on new releases, scaling up of environment; Security and monitoring (DLP); Technical lead in discussion around DMS related projects\ones that integrate with Work10; Serve as infrastructure and networking expert for all DMS components, make recommendations on architecture to guarantee system stability and availability and coordinate backup, high availability and recovery strategies for all DMS databases in accordance with Firm standards; Ensure day to day health and security of core platform and all components. Make recommendations for improvements tied to performance and stability; Prepare functional specifications, design documents and deployment plans and participate in product evaluation and selection; Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the ECM space and be forward thinking in continually evaluating vendor and system solutions; define a roadmap with an eye towards the cloud; Assist in defining business needs and evaluating the business relevance and requirements of applications and upgrades under consideration; Proactively identify issues and undertake appropriate action to avoid/resolve service interruptions once issues are identified; Define, analyze and execute diagnostic and update scripts to troubleshoot and/or address specific problems; Automate backend and user-facing processes where applicable; Perform queries and generate reports upon request; Work with the DBA team to control and monitor access to application databases through the design and implementation of database security measures; Interface with iManage and other vendors as appropriate to resolve problems; Assume ownership of level 3 support and troubleshoot to analyze, resolve and document all reported DMS-related incidents; Serve as a resource for application-specific development requests; Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for defined applications, including knowledge base articles; Conduct training for knowledge transfer to peers; Utilize IT best practices for root cause analysis of issues related to the DMS environment; Maintain functional proficiency in industry and firm-standard software, hardware and related technologies necessary to provide consistently evolving, superior levels of professional support; Assists with planning and budgeting; Works overtime and after-hours as required; and Participates in on call rotation for after-hours break/fix support. What You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; Working knowledge of legal technology solutions preferred; At least 7 years' of information technology experience (required); At least 5 years' experience working with and supporting enterprise platforms (required); At least 5 years' experience working with iManage (client and server) along with various add-ins, integrations and components (required) ; At least 5 years' experience implementing, managing and supporting iManage Work10 (both client side and back-end) (required) and RAVN indexer (preferred); At least 5 years' experience implementing and supporting integrations with third party applications and systems such as IntApp, Litera and enterprise search solutions (required); At least 5 years' experience planning and budgeting tied to the iManage platform and related components; At least 5 years' experience working in the Windows Server Environment (required); At least 5 years' years of SQL Server experience (required); At least 3 years' executive level engagement and customer service (preferred); At least 3 years' of experience in a professional services or legal environment (preferred); At least 3 years' of experience with Milan or similar tools (preferred); Advanced iManage or NetDocuments support; Advanced knowledge of iManage document management and related systems and tools; Advanced knowledge of multi-tier architecture including servers, databases, proxies, load balancing, trust/access rights, certificates, and integrations; Advanced knowledge of Windows Server including IIS, services, scheduled tasks, logging, and configurations; Intermediate knowledge of system integrations including APIs, web services, FTP, and database to database; Basic ability to manage monitoring, backups, HA, BC, DR, patching, and admin tools; Basic ability to work with desktop and mobile applications for their installation and configurations; Basic ability to work with SQL Server, SQL development/queries, and reporting tools; Basic ability to work with project management on plans, tasks, and resource management and tools such as Confluence and JIRA; Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell; Familiarity with security best practices and procedures; Familiarity with data governance best practices and procedures; and Familiarity with related IT departments such as infrastructure, desktop, service desk, development, operations, and telecommunications.
