Position Overview
The Senior Engineer will be a highly skilled and motivated professional with 8+ years of experience, primarily working in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry as a Process, Mechanical, or MEP Engineer. You will have a proven track record working on complex industrial manufacturing projects, with a strong focus on semiconductor and advanced technology sectors. An active professional engineering license is required, as the Senior Engineer will be responsible for reviewing and sealing design packages as an Engineer of Record.

In addition to technical expertise, the Senior Engineer will take on project management responsibilities, overseeing project delivery from inception through completion. This can include acting as a primary point of contact during project meetings, managing budgets, schedules, resources, and ensuring projects meet client expectations and regulatory standards. As a Senior member of the Arete team, you will also provide mentorship to junior staff and collaborate with internal stakeholders on proposals, project planning, and client presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design for process utilities, HVAC, mechanical systems, and tool installation for company projects primarily related to advanced technology manufacturing facilities.
  • Perform advanced calculations, modeling, and simulations to optimize system performance and energy efficiency with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), and ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Attend, contribute, and lead project meetings, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, clients, and contractors to ensure timely delivery and quality of project milestones.
  • Conduct field walks to gather site conditions, monitor construction progress, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure strict adherence to design specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and business operations to develop proposals, budgets, and schedules, and assist in client presentations.
  • Help support the development of junior-level staff by providing guidance, feedback, and technical expertise ensuring project deliverables meet the highest quality and technical standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and coordination for Process / MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems used in semiconductor and cleanroom manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop, review, and approve design documents, including construction drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Drive project management, ensuring projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Participate in design reviews, identifying risks and providing solutions for optimization and improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Process & MEP systems, focusing on innovations in advanced technology sectors.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred. Will consider other engineering discipline fields of study with direct knowledge and professional experience in Process / MEP systems.
  • NCEES Professional Engineering (PE) license in active standing.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering experience for industrial manufacturing facilities, with a focus on semiconductor and related cleanroom manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, PipeFlo, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
  • Hands-on experience and expert knowledge with design review processes and engineering calculations.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to take ownership of projects and drive results.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities, with experience in collaborating across multiple teams and disciplines.

Preferred:
  • Direct experience in semiconductor manufacturing facility design.
  • Strong understanding of base building systems, process utilities, and tool installation in high-tech environments.
  • Familiarity with adjacent advanced technology industries such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or data centers.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom standards and regulatory requirements for high-tech facilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing project teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Preference for candidates who live in the greater Austin, TX area, though relocation may not be required.
