UCT is looking for a talented Engineer IV, Weld to join us in Austin, TX!

Join UCT as a Weld Engineer and play a pivotal role in advancing our semiconductor welding processes to meet the demands of emerging technologies. As an Engineer IV, you will be the subject matter expert in welding processes, ensuring our fabrication methods and products adhere to global standards. Your expertise will be crucial in developing innovative fabrication techniques to support welding teams worldwide.

This role involves reviewing and interpreting welding standards, developing new processes, conducting audits, and providing training and support to welding teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding engineering, an in-depth understanding of international welding standards (ISO and AWS), excellent communication and leadership skills, and relevant hands-on experience. Experience should include MIG, TIG, and Orbital welding; development of weld fixturing; proficiency in non-destructive testing evaluation (radiography, etc.); welder setting implementation; creation and qualification of a WPS and WPQR, including inspection criteria by a CWI. Material competence with various types of Stainless Steel (Inconel, Hastelloy, etc.) and Aluminum is required. Join us and contribute to the future of semiconductor welding at UCT!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Standards Review and Implementation
  • Analyze and interpret industry and customer welding standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies and processes to ensure compliance across all global operations.
  • Update company policies and procedures to reflect changes in relevant standards.
  • Ensure standardization across all sites.
Quality Assurance and Auditing
  • Conduct regular audits of welding processes and products to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive audit schedule and checklist.
  • Identify non-compliance issues and collaborate with relevant teams to develop corrective actions.
Training and Support
  • Provide training and guidance to welding teams on industry and customer standards.
  • Develop training materials and programs to enhance understanding and implementation of standards.
  • Support teams in troubleshooting and resolving compliance-related issues.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain thorough documentation of compliance efforts, including audit reports, corrective actions, and training records.
  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to senior management and customers.
  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, production, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless compliance integration.
  • Collaborate with all UCT engineering teams, including operations, quality, and design engineering.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding welding standards and compliance issues.
  • Participate in industry forums and standards committees to stay informed about new developments and best practices.
Weld Process Oversight
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards: DI Wash/Dry, moisture detection, particle counts, working environment, contamination controls.
  • Ensure functional compliance: hydrostatic testing, helium leak checks, coupon processes, x-ray reviews, in-process inspections, DfX reviews, capability assessments.
  • Oversee process compliance: welding, machining, WPS, QMS documents, PFMEAs, labeling, bagging, and training.
  • Participate in cross-functional development of future weld and weld-related improvements.

Overnight Travel:
