Purchasing Agent

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent that will provide The Purchasing Agent is responsible for developing relationships with suppliers, purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop effective working relationships with internal Project Teams, Quality, Risk, Engineering and Supply Chain Management.
  • Lead Procurement activities while coordinating with suppliers to: solicit bids, analyze quotations, evaluate prospective suppliers, and recommend suppliers.
  • Work with manager to develop profitable purchasing strategies.
  • Purchase material and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification, and schedule requirements, and other factors.
  • Create Purchase Agreements and engage with Project Team to incorporate any needed changes.
  • Lead communication with Suppliers throughout procurement process.
  • Support Project Teams and Quality to arrange returns of unacceptable products to suppliers.
  • Create and maintain historical data and contribute to the development of subsequent strategies for material categories and projects.
  • Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams.
  • Visit project site or operating group quarterly at a minimum to better understand their challenges and educate them on procurement so that streamlined processes can be implemented.
  • Lead special projects for team as requested.
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of Construction processes, equipment, and materials, purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Software experience.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing field.
  • Current driver's license.

The base pay range for this role is $79,600 - $119,400. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
