DETAILS: ESTIMATOR
COMPENSATION: $70k - $90k Base + Bonus + Benefits on Day 1
As a vended mix Estimator responsible for estimating, you will have the opportunity to attend pre-bid and/or pre-construction meetings, analyzing extensive proposal documents, contract specifications, and plans to gain a deep understanding of the scope of work to prepare accurate bids. From performing take-offs to a thorough analysis of vendor and subcontractor quotes, you will be tasked with submitting quotes for projects across our operations in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. Displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will interface with customers, trade associations, DOT officials, architects, engineers, and contractors to provide project data and cost information. You will also participate in job set-up, assist in the conformance of budgets, submittals, billing processes for progress estimates, and change orders. Lastly, aiding our construction project management team, you will be called upon to resolve on-site difficulties, determining schedule and cost impacts in the process.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Estimator
- Actively engages in the company's safety program, upholding its values, policies, and aligning with the strategic plan
- Thoroughly analyzes plans, specifications, contract documents, and attends pre-bid meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of bid requirements for accurate bid preparation
- Facilitates effective communication with Owners, Engineers, Architects, Customers, and internal team members to collaboratively develop bid packages and address any arising issues
- Utilizes analytical skills to evaluate quotes, historical cost information, and pricing data, essential for the meticulous preparation of bids and construction subcontracts
- Assumes leadership in the seamless transition of estimates from bid to the construction management team
- Collaborates with the construction management team to resolve on-site challenges, mitigating cost and schedule impacts through the utilization of P6 scheduling software
- Takes on accountability for asphalt sales, diligently tracking weekly ticket activity, and managing collections
- Ensures timely completion and proper close-out of projects through diligent follow-up
- Displays flexibility in performing additional tasks and assignments as needed to meet deadlines or as directed by management.
- Possesses a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience
- Brings 10 years of extensive experience in estimating, sales, and heavy civil/asphalt construction
- Preferred experience includes working with entities such as NCDOT, SCDOT, city, county, large industrial, handling complex FAA projects, and integrated projects
- Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing various software tools, including Microsoft Suite, HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job Cost, Dodge Market Leader, AGTEK, CADD, Blue Beam, Bid Tabs, and P6 Scheduling
- Exhibits outstanding qualities in leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Possesses exceptional time management and delegation skills, essential for meeting demanding bid schedules.
