Job Summary
The Client Corporate Functions HRBP team is seeking an HR Business Partner II with a focus on Employee Relations to join our team on a six-month contract. This role will primarily cover a leave of absence and manage employee relations for the Corporate Functions client groups (IT, Finance, Legal & Compliance, and Marketing & Growth). The position will involve identifying and resolving employee relations issues through collaboration with HR partners, Labor Relations, and management. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Employee Relations, including experience in a union environment, and a commitment to supporting the overall employee experience. As part of the HRBP team, this role will also contribute to other HR projects and responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage employee relations issues by providing guidance, counsel, and direction to managers and supervisors.
- Conduct investigations into employee issues and complaints, working closely with HRBPs and Labor Relations to recommend appropriate actions.
- Provide guidance during the disciplinary action process, ensuring corrective actions are appropriate and aligned with company policies.
- Ensure that employee relations cases are handled fairly, consistently, and in compliance with applicable laws and company values.
- Interpret and administer hospital Collective Bargaining Agreements, collaborating with relevant parties to ensure compliance.
- Use sound business judgment to minimize organizational risk and guide management on best workplace practices.
- Build effective relationships with HR Business Partners and other business stakeholders to collaboratively develop solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment laws, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Assist HRBPs in evaluating organizational climate and issues, facilitating improvements in the employee experience.
- Advise and support managers in creating and implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for employees who are not meeting performance expectations.
- Act as a liaison between employees, managers, and the union (if applicable), mediating difficult conversations and ensuring effective communication.
- Represent Client at legal hearings (e.g., unemployment, grievances, jury trials, EEOC hearings, arbitrations) as needed, providing testimony to protect the organization's interests.
- Support other HR Business Partner responsibilities and projects as required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in HR and employee relations, with significant experience in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor relations in healthcare settings.
- Previous experience working with HR Business Partners on broader HR initiatives, including organizational development and employee engagement.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred, but not required.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to work and team collaboration.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, labor relations, and employee relations best practices.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence all levels of management and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook) and web browsers.
