We design and deliver advanced solutions for industries requiring high-efficiency electrical systems, and we're looking for a dedicated Electrical Engineering Commissioning Technician to join our team at our Houston office.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Commissioning Technician responsible for coordinating the commissioning of medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) electrical systems. This role requires collaboration with multiple vendors and contractors to ensure the successful commissioning of critical power systems including Motor Control Centers (MCC), switchgears, Gas Turbine Generators (GTGs), compressors, Steam Turbine Generators (STGs), diesel backup generators, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and HV/MV transformers. The position involves a rotational travel schedule, typically 1-2 weeks on and off, to various project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the commissioning of MV/HV electrical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Work closely with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate timely and successful project completion.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of electrical equipment such as MCCs, switchgears, GTGs, STGs, and transformers.
  • Ensure proper installation and operation of VFDs, compressors, and backup power systems.
  • Oversee the commissioning of protective relay systems and provide technical support for system integration.
  • Conduct site assessments and generate detailed reports on commissioning activities, equipment performance, and issues encountered.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards throughout the commissioning process.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
  • Proven experience in commissioning MV/HV electrical systems, particularly in industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of power distribution equipment including MCCs, switchgears, transformers, and generators.
  • Strong understanding of electrical testing procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple vendors and contractors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in industrial and electrical environments.
  • Willingness to travel on a rotational schedule (1-2 weeks on/off).
