Job Title: Data Engineer & Modeler Location: Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; or Broken Arrow, OK (Remote candidates considered) Work Schedule: M-F Contract Details: 6mo Pay Rate: $100 Candidates: open US Citizens or Green Card Holders Skills and Experience Needed: Familiarity with modern Agile practices (SAFE, LeSS, Lean, Scrum, XP) Ability to adapt Agile methodologies within a Waterfall IT controls environment Understanding of InfoSec control levels Position Overview The Data Engineer - Data Modeler plays a critical leadership role in defining and refining enterprise data models. This position will guide the selection and development of data models for a variety of applications across the organization, from business-centric solutions to insights-driven apps. You’ll work collaboratively across technical and business teams to ensure the integrity and utility of data models enterprise-wide. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled, proactive technologist with a passion for data modeling, problem-solving, and continuous learning. Key Responsibilities: Data Modeling and Analysis Translate business needs into long-term, sustainable data models. Develop business, logical, and physical data models aligned with organizational requirements. Monitor and improve critical data models to support ongoing business functions effectively. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with software engineers, business units, and service teams to ensure alignment on data needs. Act as a data modeling expert, facilitating working sessions with business operations teams to understand data sources and outputs. Documentation and Standards Development Create and maintain architecture documentation, data flow diagrams, and data models. Establish and enforce standards for data naming conventions, consistency, and reuse across data models. Data System Evaluation and Optimization Regularly evaluate and refine existing data models, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Collaborate with platform teams to optimize data mapping and mastering processes. Technical Leadership and Mentorship Provide direction to Data Engineering teams in developing, populating, and maintaining data within the enterprise data model. Guide end-users on the established data models to support their application and downstream processes. Data Model Development for NoSQL Databases Develop and maintain data models for NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB and MongoDB. Additional Duties Perform data management tasks related to data quality, governance, and metadata management. Complete other related tasks as required by the role. Qualifications & Experience 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in developing and managing Business, Logical, and Physical data models. 5+ years in designing databases, Data Warehouses, Data Hubs, Delta Lake, and Data Marts. Experience in modeling methodologies (3NF, BPMN, data vault, star/snowflake schemas). Strong SQL skills with at least 5 years of practical experience. Proficiency with data modeling tools (Erwin, ER/Studio, Archi). Familiarity with SAP ECC and Salesforce data models. 3+ years working in data governance, data quality, and master data management. Experience with Agile or ITSM methodologies is a plus. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience. General Expectations Uphold professional and ethical behavior in all interactions.
