This role is flexible and can be full-time on-site or hybrid located in San Jose, CA. The Team: The User Experience and Product Definition team is responsible for creating innovative, clinically focused user experiences for hardware and software category-leading surgical visualization and operating room integration products. What You Will Do: As a member of the User Experience and Product Definition team, the Staff Interaction (IxD) Designer will develop intuitive User Experiences (UX) and compelling digital user interface (UI) design assets. Apply research methodologies in partnership with world-class healthcare professionals, to develop key insights to determine appropriate user experience, ergonomics, aesthetics and safety for our customers. Using a command of IxD, UX and UI development tools/ methodologies to create impactful concepts, user experiences and digital interactions. Job Responsibilities: 70-30 design-to-research ratio. Engage with customers to better understand their needs, the needs of patients and the clinical environment. Develop concepts and prototypes for the purposes of better understanding the product needs, testing hypotheses and the establishment of product requirements. Create a cohesive & elegant user experience across both physical and digital touchpoints. Translate high-level design concepts into design descriptions and guidelines which can be used to brief the implementation R&D teams. Partner and communicate with technical engineers throughout development to launch. 5-10% travel to clinical sites will be required from time-to-time to interview end-users, demonstrate prototypes, and observe clinical procedures. Balance creating the ideal user experience with other constraints such as business goals and time to market. Lead design reviews, communicate design concepts to key stakeholders, contribute to roadmap planning, and sprint planning. Be the primary designer on a number of projects and guide junior designers where required. Manage multiple priorities and timelines at once. What You Need: Minimum requirements(Must Have) BA/BS in Design (interaction, visual communication, graphic, product, industrial) or related discipline 4+ years of professional experience in relevant role A portfolio that demonstrates mastery of UX/ UI methodologies and implementations, and experience from concept through to commercialized product execution. Advanced competency with Figma. Demonstrated experience of working with software development process. Demonstrated experience in collaborating with marketing teams, software engineers and other development team members. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as reading comprehension An interest and passion in medical devices, healthcare or like Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience in a healthcare, medical product development environment or experience in a regulated environment. Experience in designing for a range of unique physical environments, such as industry, healthcare, manufacturing, consumer. Familiarity with iterative processes like Agile Scrum and the tools and strategies that make those processes successful. This role would be a good fit for someone from a design agency looking to move in-house. Demonstrated experience of Human Factors studies, Ergonomics analysis and user research. $85,500 - $182,100 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
