Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides central office proposal development and support services to Emory leadership, faculty, and program staff throughout all Emory colleges and schools. With the primary focus as development for complex proposal submissions, assists faculty with the preparation, management, and submission of major grant proposals. Works with senior research leadership to effectively implement Emory's research development strategies; creates and conducts training and outreach activities for potential Principal Investigators and Research Administration Services staff (pre-award); and performs other research development related tasks, as assigned. Assists faculty and teams of faculty with the preparation and submission of complex external grant proposals that meet a defined set of criteria established for major proposal support. Provides consulting services on strategic proposal development, including high-level conceptualization to match sponsor priorities and program guidelines; effective proposal/project management services; and credible content creation, editing, and internal evaluation services to assist investigators in the complex process of developing competitive proposals. Coordinates the work of strategic teams of faculty and academic leadership that cross departmental and disciplinary lines to create and pursue opportunities where interdisciplinary support is available and/or required. Develops effective briefing materials for university leaders, prepares faculty for their roles in meetings and events, and creates communications (such as one-pagers) for distribution. Keeps abreast of funding opportunities and programs, grant submission dates and deadlines, historical funding data, and other funding agency requirements. Manages the university's boilerplate library and other proposal development resources and repositories. Works closely with the AVPR and the associate deans of research (or equivalent) across Emory's colleges and schools on defining and implementing strategy for increased success in external sponsorship; maps Emory's research and programmatic strengths to the interests and priorities of external funding programs. Works to advance the University's academic, research, and institutional goals through lasting partnerships with sponsors. Organizes grant writing workshops/seminars for potential Principal Investigators. Plans and coordinates training for RAS unit personnel who will support ORD managed proposal submissions. Plans and executes site visits. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and five years of directly related experience, which may include research administration, pre-award services, project management, and editing/writing. Master's degree preferred. NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice.
