Our client is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join their team. As part of the engineering team, you will see products through the engineering prototype phase to series production. You will be responsible for designing and developing new technology offerings within the Power Distribution team. This includes power test equipment, temporary back-up power products, and battery storage technologies. In this role, you will:
- Define, design, prototype, develop, and commercialize a range of products including load banks, temporary generator docking stations, UL-891-compliant switchboards, automatic transfer switches, and more.
- Design schematics and specify required equipment for multi-layer power distribution systems.
- Define new product integration testing plans.
- Lead electrical design efforts across a range of new technology initiatives.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to design engineers, test technicians, and assembly personnel.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical system/product design.
- Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPlan, and others.
- Experience defining electrical specifications for power distribution offerings including switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, and generators.
- Experience with creation of detailed technical product documentation to support product manufacturing, functional testing, certification testing, and customer requests.
- Ability to specify safe and effective testing practices for powered prototype testing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- NFPA 70E Certification.
- Experience with UL891, UL508, UL1008, UL9540, and others.
- Experience with ERP, PLM, and Engineering Vault software.
- Experience with energy storage systems for critical infrastructure.
- Medium-voltage product design experience.
