Indorama Ventures- Indovinya is currently looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Senior Safety Specialist located in The Woodlands, TX. This position provides specialized support, expertise, and technical guidance related to Health, Safety, Emergency, Industrial Hygiene, Crisis Management and Security across the Indovinya organization, including manufacturing plants, R&D facilities, and offices. The Sr. Safety Specialist’s area of influence encompasses the Indovinya global footprint, with a primary focus on health & safety program implementation, and local responsibilities on Health & Safety to The Woodlands office and IVTC. The Sr. Safety Specialist ensures compliance with federal regulatory and Indovinya standards requirements.

The Sr. Safety Specialist will promote and ensure the application of industry-leading H&S practices, contributing to the development and implementation of Indovinya’s EHS strategies and policies. This role involves fostering sustainable change in cultural and technical aspects at all levels of the organization. The Sr. Safety Specialist will provide H&S expertise, guidance, and facilitation of risk recognition and reduction skills, driving the vision of “Zero Unplanned Events” through proactive, safe, and compliant work practices that utilize risk-based prevention and mitigation techniques.

What will be expected from you?

  • Problem solving and supporting the delivery of all H&S regulatory requirements.

  • Improvement of the H&S Management and Leadership Commitment throughout all the organization.

  • Definition of H&S policies, with communication, continuous improvement, supporting and monitoring implementation at the entire Indovinya organization, sponsored by the company leadership.

  • Engagement of the entire Indovinya organization on the H&S responsibility and accountability at all levels.

  • Improvement of the H&S culture through training, employee development, ownership, and engagement.

  • Applying a risk-based approach & tracking on risk mitigation. Building risk awareness and engagement on risks reduction targets.

  • Definitions and tracking of the H&S performance improvement goals and action plans for all Indovinya.

  • Development the Indovinya organization with the best standards on Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management.

  • Development of regular H&S campaigns throughout all organization related to Health and Safety.

  • Guarantee prompt and accurate communications and information sharing throughout all company.

  • Leverage technical H&S talent and resources within Indovinya, directly supporting with problem solving and technical knowledge and guidance.

  • Perform H&S benchmarks within the sector.

  • Request sponsorship from the unit leaderships and Health and Safety professionals on H&S matters.

  • Promote best practices to define a standard of excellence for H&S, providing tools and programs to help operations improve culture and leveraging knowledge, attempting all the Indovinya stakeholders. The CoE must provide ongoing improvement initiatives using actionable tasks, turning insights into actions.

  • Participate on the discussion of global Indovinya locations for H&S target setting, annual planning of objectives and development of H&S Excellence Plans.

  • Guarantee frequent internal contacts with all levels of personnel to obtain & furnish information.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with federal/regional regulatory agencies, to assure compliance and good working relationships.

  • Develop new Indovinya H&S programs, giving support and offering knowledge on the implementation.

  • Harmonize H&S practices between the regions, identify and share best practices, and foster collaboration and networking.

  • Participate in industry conferences and meetings. Maintain current knowledge of H&S trends and practices in the industry to adapt to changing regulatory environment. Identify and implement best practices to continuously improve H&S practices.

  • Represent Indovinya in technical committees of federal councils and trade associations by participating in meetings and activities, benchmarking with industry peers, and sharing highlights with IVL and Indovinya, and influencing continuous improvement of the sector.

  • Proactively participate on external events and execute benchmarking on H&S initiatives and programs, within IVL and with external stakeholders, to capture trends and working in the continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate continuously the potential application of new H&S certifications to the company and discuss the pros and cons of respective implementation.

  • Support sites on the introduction of new regulations and coordinate contacts with the respective federal agencies.

  • Program Lead for Occupational Health, Hygiene, and Medical Programs.

  • Assess the breadth, depth, and scope of company IH, occupational health and all employee exposure assessment programs, assure hazards are identified and appropriately managed and facilitate the implementation of program enhancements and corrective actions where needed.

  • Facilitate IH surveys and develop reports based on analysis and interpretation of IH data.

  • Collect IH monitoring data.

  • Guide facility efforts to establish and maintain accurate Job Demands Forms, Job Exposure Profiles, Job Safety Analysis, and associated PPE assessments.

  • Develop, review, and approve company policy/procedures related to employee exposure assessment and control including but not limited to IH, Occupational Health/Medical, Job Safety Analysis, Chemical Approval and PPE.

  • Provide oversight and direction in the development of facility IH plans and the review of sampling results in conjunction with facility/company personnel.

  • Provide IH support to shared services groups and customers (per the company’s requests).

  • Lead investigations of relevant incidents, identifying root causes and determining appropriate corrective actions.

  • Manage consultants including IH and Occupational Medical providers.

  • Perform necessary actions to implement Occupational Hygiene, Health, Safety and Emergency procedures and programs and comply with legal requirements at The Woodlands office and IVTC.

  • Oversight health and safety contractors/consultants in carrying out actions and projects at The Woodlands office and IVTC.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health (or related field) required.

  • 8+ years of specific experience required.

  • Experience in chemical or petrochemical industrial sites required.

  • Experience in a corporate or regional H&S role is strongly preferred.

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.

  • Ability to plan and execute initiatives and procedures with a global perspective.

  • Must have a level of proficiency with electronic tools, Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Familiarity on OSHA case management.

  • Trained on formal root cause analysis and incident investigation (i.e., Taproot, Apollo, etc.).

  • Program review and auditing.

  • Technical writing and reports.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state Health and Safety regulations including OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NIOSH, etc.

  • Fire prevention and protection experience is a plus.

  • Experience with H&S technical and/or procedure writing skills.

  • Able to collaborate with others both in-person and virtually.

  • Competency in training, facilitating, and presenting to multi-disciplinary groups.
