JOB SUMMARY:

Salary: $80,000-$85,000.

Works closely with the Chief Development Officer and fundraising staff in the execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to expand philanthropic support for the YWCA of Minneapolis.? Manages components of the fundraising plan for individuals - including the annual fund, mid-level giving, major giving, the constituent database, and prospect research. and major gifts.? The Director of Individual Giving will establish and strengthen relationships with prospects, donors, and volunteers. This professional will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex setting while managing multiple projects and functioning in a high-performing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage ongoing activities to engage and recognize current and new corporate and major donor relationships
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of YWCA of Minneapolis priorities;
  • Developing and implementing a marketing and communications plan for annual, mid-level, and major gifts;
  • Creating planned giving marketing plan and materials to cultivate, inspire & steward current donors and planned giving prospects.
  • Developing appropriate planned giving marketing outreach through website and other appropriate channels, collaborating closely with the Marketing team.
  • Identifying prospects and evaluating giving potential; ?
  • Developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies;
  • Assist prospective donors by initiating and coordinating the preparation of proposals, solicitation letters, and other development-related correspondence and completing gift arrangements;
  • Overseeing and participating in the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts prospects;
  • Meeting frequently with donors and prospects;
  • Record, report and maintain files on donors in Raiser's Edge NXT or other databases as needed;
  • Provide reports and analysis of cultivation and solicitation activities;
  • Oversee and supervise the day-to-day activities of the Annual Fund Officer, Mid-Level Gift Officer, and Major Gift Officer, and Database and Prospect Research Manager;
  • Work with staff, board, and volunteers to identify and pursue corporate gifts;
  • Identify and train appropriate volunteers in asking for gifts;
  • Motivate and support volunteers involved in cultivation and solicitation activities.
  • Manage a donor portfolio and complete planned actions for each person or company in your portfolio.
RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Chief Development Officer who reports to the Chief Executive Officer. ?The incumbent will interact primarily with the Organizational Advancement Team and external funders. Critical relationships will include major donors, Organizational Advancement Team, the Marketing Team, the Vice Presidents of each program area, the Chief Development Officer, and the Chief Executive Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5-7 years' experience in fundraising.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word Office products
  • The ability to develop, manage, and maintain successful relationships is required, as is the ability to be an excellent spokesperson for the institution.?
  • Strong problem-solving ability, including the ability to productively resolve conflict.? Requires professional expertise where analytical skills, judgment, and timing of decisions are important.?
  • Must maintain donor confidentiality at all times and have a strong understanding of personal and professional boundaries in an office setting.
  • Strong verbal/presentation and written communication skills
  • Highly goal and result-oriented
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge is highly preferred.
  • Master's degree or CFRE
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

Travel to various YWCA of Minneapolis sites and donor locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A disciplined, results-oriented, self-starter, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Persuasive communications skills in writing, in-person and over the phone
  • Outstanding listening and analytical skills
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to be knowledgeable and articulate in stating YWCA Minneapolis' mission and vision and the case for support of its priorities.
  • Ability to appropriately manage confidential information
  • A creative, good-natured member of a team with demonstrated collaborative and pro-active manners.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible non-profit development experience.
  • A strong record of raising annual and major gifts, either as a professional fundraiser or from a combination of professional and volunteer fundraising activities
  • Proven success inspiring people and managing positive working relationships with boards, volunteers, and staff to meet organizational goals
  • Experience in developing donor-centric cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and support volunteer leadership with their efforts in fundraising, consultation, and advocacy
Preferred:
  • Master's degree or nationally recognized certification.
  • Raiser's Edge software experience.
