Summary:
Responsible for the development, maintenance, performance and operation of UIC's Information Technology Infrastructure. Core scope of this role includes managing backups, Storage Area Network (SAN), cloud environments, server administration, Windows and Linux operating systems management, and Active Directory management, as well as on premise virtualization.

Target Annual Base Pay: $90,000 - $110,000 + Robust Benefits

Summary:
Responsible for the development, maintenance, performance and operation of UIC's Information Technology Infrastructure. Core scope of this role includes managing backups, Storage Area Network (SAN), cloud environments, server administration, Windows and Linux operating systems management, and Active Directory management, as well as on premise virtualization.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Oversees installation of all server hardware and software.
- Supports the virtualization environment to include hardware refresh, software maintenance and configuration.
- Maintains SAN environment to include capacity planning and ongoing maintenance.
- Ensures security, availability & performance of the enterprise environment.
- Identity and authentication management related to Active Directory, Entra ID and AD FS.
- Documents IT procedures and follows best practice change management, for IT systems configuration.
- Monitors backup systems; Regularly tests, verifies restore capabilities and performs routine maintenance.
- Plans, develops and implements disaster recovery planning, events and recovery of vital information.
- Administers and maintains MS SQL Server databases.
- Creates batch scripts, VB Scripts, and PowerShell scripts to perform automated tasks.
- Troubleshoots problems reported by users & follow-up to ensure resolution.
- Works with vendor support contacts as needed, to resolve technical issues.
- Oversees the build, configuration & maintenance of laptops, PCs, servers & other assets.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant STEM field of study with 4-7 years of related experience.
- In lieu of degree; 7+ years of commensurate experience will be considered.
- Windows Server Experience: Active Directory, DFS, WSUS, file services, AD FS.
- Microsoft Cloud Experience; Azure, M365, Entra ID, conditional access.
- Familiarity with SAN Storage; fiber channel, iSCSI protocol.
- Server configuration and deployment experience.
- Practical day to day experience with Veeam backup.
- Experience in a VMWare vSphere environment, spanning multiple geographic locations.
- Experience adhering to and applying company change management and policy.
- VMWare VCP Certification is huge plus.
- Scripting experience including PowerShell, Python or related.
- CompTIA Security+ preferred.
- Relevant Microsoft Certifications.
- Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
