MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Our client is now hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a desire to work on large infrastructure projects in the oil and chemical industries. In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline, which may involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.

What You'll Be Doing:
Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing CAE/CAD as applicable
  • Responsible for oversight of 3rd party engineering/design teams, including design reviews, coordination, and making recommendations to owner's engineering team
  • Prepares standard engineering computations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs for large industrial projects
  • Reviews design documents produced by other engineering teams for compliance with applicable codes and owner standards
  • Interfaces with vendors to coordinate interfaces and perform acceptance testing
  • Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials
  • Applies requirements of ASME BPVC and API tank standards
  • Complete knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards for the oil, gas, and chemical industries
  • Participate in risk assessment activities, including PHAs and HAZOPs
  • Performs preliminary design activities including studies and alternatives analysis
  • Reviews supplier drawing submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses
  • Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower level Engineers working on the same project
  • Demonstrated ability to work with vendors and contractors, while interfacing with multiple departments, and working with internal customers to manage projects, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or related field) and 8+ years of related work experience
  • Experience in large, complex industrial projects including equipment selection and specification, developing and reading P&IDs, control diagrams, and managing equipment lists
  • Experience with complex piping systems, hydraulic analysis, pipe stress analysis, and material selection
  • Experience with PIP standards, ASME, and building codes
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary teams to design new facilities and modifications to existing production facilities
  • Working knowledge of CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • Familiarity with FEL project implementation process is a plus
