What you'll do...
As a Distinguished Software Engineer on the Walmart Commerce Technologies team, you will drive the technical vision and strategy for commercializing our mature enterprise systems and transforming them into industry-leading SaaS products for retailers. In this role, you will lead the creation of scalable, repeatable frameworks and architectures that enable the rapid development and deployment of new products. You will tackle our most complex technical challenges, working across multiple teams and stakeholders to deliver solutions with significant impact.
As a technical leader, you will mentor and guide other engineers, setting the standard for excellence in our organization. About Team: The Walmart Commerce Technologies Team mission is to enable businesses worldwide to better serve their customers with technologies and SaaS solutions powered by Walmart. Our team was established in 2022 and we are transforming scaled Walmart technologies into white-label offerings for other retailers and sellers. We've launched Store Assist, an out-of-the box, mobile-first store fulfillment application and are accelerating our pipeline of future products.
What you'll do:
Define the technical vision for commercializing our enterprise systems into SaaS products. Design systems and repeatable frameworks to commercialize our products out of existing large-scale systems. Identify and solve our most complex technical challenges, often working on self-directed initiatives that span multiple teams and systems. Drive the creation of cross-product platforms and services that enable greater efficiency, scalability, and innovation across our SaaS offerings. Make key technology decisions that will enable long term success while meeting immediate needs of our customers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the feasibility of commercialization and our go-to-market approach. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and foster a culture of engineering excellence through best practices, continuous improvement, design reviews, and high hiring standards. Create a culture of engineering excellence by developing processes, design reviews, and maintaining a high bar in our hiring. What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience. 15+ years of experience in software engineering. Deep expertise in designing and building a portfolio of SaaS products and platforms. Expertise with technologies such as Java, Spring frameworks, React, NodeJS, SQL Databases Proven ability to create repeatable frameworks and architectures that drive efficiency and innovation across multiple products and teams. Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others across all levels of the organization. Strong business acumen and understanding of the retail-tech industry, with the ability to align technical strategy with commercial objectives.
