Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team in the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and optimizing conveyor systems, sorters, and overall system functionality. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, project management, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Design and Development:
Lead the design and development of conveyor systems, sorters, and other MHE components. Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. Utilize CAD software to create detailed mechanical drawings and specifications.
Project Management:
Manage multiple projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against these plans. Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
System Functionality:
Conduct system functionality assessments to ensure optimal performance of MHE systems. Identify and resolve issues related to system integration, performance, and reliability. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency and effectiveness.
Technical Expertise:
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new projects and technologies.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and progress reports. Present project updates and technical findings to stakeholders and senior management.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on MHE systems. Proven experience in designing and implementing conveyor systems and sorters. Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Skills:
Experience with automation and control systems. Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations. Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
