David Evans and Associates (DEA) is adding a

Bridge / Structural Engineer

to its Salt Lake City, UT Bridge and Structures Group. A successful candidate will have experience with bridge design practices and the application of seismic design criteria. In this role, you will perform structural analyses and develop design calculations using AASHTO and other design codes for different bridges, transportation, and transit structural systems. A successful candidate will also have experience in load rating, field inspection, and reporting practices. Typical projects will include a variety of concrete and steel bridges, concrete box culverts, overhead sign structures, and retaining walls. Experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) structural practices is preferred, particularly in Utah. Additional DOT structural experience in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, and Colorado is valuable for this position.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Organizing information for use in project documents Assist or lead bridge projects by creating concept reports and type selection reports. Assist or lead bridge rehabilitation and preservation projects. Assist or lead the development of engineering calculations utilizing spreadsheets and various analysis and design software packages. Assist or lead the development of engineering drawing details. Assist or lead the development of project specifications. Developing engineering quantity and cost estimates Review contractor submittals during construction. Perform condition inspections of existing bridges Generate and edit bridge inspection reports Manage the execution of work assignments within an allocated budget Review all work for completeness and accuracy and adhere to schedule and quality expectations established by contract and industry standards

Basic Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States Must be organized, detail-oriented, and work well under tight deadlines Proficient in communicating and working in a team-based environment that involves coordination with multiple design disciplines and offices Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering Minimum 8 years of applicable bridge and seismic design experience Proficiency in current structural design software applications, with an emphasis on bridge design software, such as CSiBridge, SAP2000, LARSA 4D, PG Super, Conspan or LPile Proficiency with Bluebeam and MathCAD software Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a heavy emphasis on Excel and Word Knowledgeable in drafting software applications such as Microstation, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

PE in the state of Utah Knowledge of UDOT structure design practices Master's degree in civil/structural engineering Proficiency in drafting software applications such as Microstation
