Job Description:
The role provides systems engineering expertise in the deployment, migrations, and delivery of our client’s on-prem and cloud infrastructures. The role expects intermediate networking and cloud computing skills within the framework of VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, Private Cloud, Azure, and AWS public cloud platforms. S/He will have a solid understanding of cloud computing and technology systems and platforms and experience delivering and migrating applications to multiple Cloud platforms. This is a “HANDS-ON” System Engineering role..
Responsibilities & Day-to-Day Tasks:
Responsible for the technical delivery and implementation of systems related to development, implementation, integration, and migrations of Public/Private Cloud services.
Setup servers, Active Directory, Exchange, and handle all phases of migrations and upgrades for prem or public cloud resources.
Discover, design, and execute Office365 email migrations from on-prem Microsoft Exchange platform
Responsible for closing out scheduled service and project tickets in ConnectWise PSA platform accurately and on time.
Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity, latency, and performance problems.
Intermediate networking capabilities, own customer networks including but not limited to firewall and switching environments. Working alongside our dedicated network team if necessary for escalation or architecture.
Manage Servers, Storage, and virtualization environments
Provide advanced support of Active Directory such as Domain Controller upgrades/Additions, Group Policy creation, software deployments, network policy maintenance, and certificate management
Collaborate with, and act as a tier 3 escalation point for Technology Managers, Service Desk, Engineering, and other client support teams
Document processes and procedures which explain system functionality or regular tasks to contribute to our internal knowledge base including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOP)
Audit undocumented client environments and provide technical recommendations based on findings
Apply best-practice configurations to client security platforms such as Azure Active Directory Conditional Access, DUO/Okta Multifactor Authentication (MFA) services
Perform system maintenance tasks including software and operating system patching, software version upgrades, critical patch applications, and vulnerability remediation
Interface with common technology support tools such as Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM), Mobile Device/Mobile Application Management, Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware
Participate in professional services’ project status calls and in the on-call rotation for technical services support/Help Desk.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, establishing, and nurturing strong, long-standing relationships. Understand and anticipate customer needs, providing proactive solutions and recommendations.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience with designing, delivering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting various network and cloud environments (Private, Public, Multi-Cloud – AWS/Azure)
Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting multiple Microsoft Windows server environments of at least 50 users (Windows Server 2008 – 2022)
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting an Exchange email environment (Exchange Server 2010 – 2019)
Solid understanding of Office365 migrations and go-lives from MS Exchange platforms and On-Prem to Azure Migrations
Solid understanding of hardware, software in Windows and Mac OS environment
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Mac server technologies (2008 and up)
Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting a VMWare Environment with at least four (4) hosts, vCenter, & vRealize Operations suite, vSAN
Hands on experience in deployment and management of routing, switching, wireless, and security appliance technologies using vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto Networks.
Solid understanding of Network protocols in relation to systems requirements, able to effectively troubleshoot general network issues.
Proficiency with systems protocols and services such as TCP/IP, AD, DHCP, DNS, DFS, 2FA, Group Policy, ADSS, SMB/CIFS, VPN
Ability to manage and create filtering rules on SPAM filters such as Mimecast or Proofpoint
Solid understanding of backup solutions such as Veeam or Acronis
Proficient in design and environment documentation
A positive sales enabling attitude and curiosity for learning new technology
Excellent written to and verbal communication skills applicable to a customer service facing role
Excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as sound, independent judgment
Pluses:
Experience installing SAN Storage and configuring it with VMWare / Hyper V
Experience with Converged and Hyper-Converged Technologies
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting a VMWare Horizon infrastructure
Previous experience working within ConnectWise (Automate) ecosystem
Scripting/Automation ability
Microsoft, VMWare, and Cisco certifications
