Role Overview:
At Blackbird, we believe every guest should feel like a VIP the moment they walk into a restaurant. Whether it's last-minute tables, welcome drinks, off-menu items, or exclusive perks, we're building a platform that helps restaurants identify, connect with, and reward their guests in meaningful and personalized ways.
Our vision? The more you check in at your favorite spots, the more you unlock-from unique rewards to seamless direct messaging for reservations. With each visit, you'll earn $FLY, our universal rewards currency, which you can use across our network of outstanding restaurants.
We're looking for an Android Engineer to help design, build, and maintain the Blackbird App on both custom hardware and standard Android devices. You'll have a direct impact on building out critical new features that enable restaurants to deliver extraordinary experiences for their guests, while helping them manage their operations seamlessly.
Responsibilities: Develop and test Android software that interacts with complex server, network, and hardware systems. Create intuitive and delightful UI/UX that enhances the guest experience. Work closely with a tight-knit team of engineers, including iOS engineers to ensure cross-platform feature parity. Launch new features quickly and at scale to serve our growing base of restaurants and diners. Contribute to the development of an innovative product that brings superpowers to restaurants. Influence product decisions and the overall roadmap through your technical insights. What You Bring:
5+ years of Android development experience with a deep understanding of engineering fundamentals. Expertise in modern Android frameworks, including Jetpack Compose, Hilt/Dagger for dependency injection, Compose Navigation, and Compose UI. Proficiency in Kotlin. Passion for growth and continuously improving as a developer. A strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer experiences. Eagerness to contribute your own ideas and collaborate with others. Depending on your work location and experience the target annual salary for this position can range from: $180-220 USD. Disclosure in accordance with New York City's Pay Transparency Law.
