Position Summary
Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional candidate to join as a sell-side Equity Research Vice President to help cover the Biotechnology sector. This person will be responsible for following the progress of public/private Biotechnology companies and will support the research team in its efforts to analyze companies and make stock recommendations to institutional investor clients. In addition to a background in the life sciences, the ideal candidate will have interest in equity research and financial modeling, specifically in the Biotechnology sector with a focus on biochemistry, molecular biology, biostatistics, clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics.
Essential Job Functions Provide support to the Senior Analyst through fundamental analysis and investment research in equity markets with an emphasis on original, bottom-up research in the Biotechnology sector Analyze individual Biotechnology companies to build and update fully integrated financial and valuation models Write comprehensive research reports and present findings; draft reports/notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news Conduct primary research due diligence on industry & market trends, clinical data, and company management and strategies Organize physician calls for investors and investor events Update analyst marketing handout regularly Interact with Firm's institutional sales force and investor clients Respond to client and internal inquiries regarding research findings and directives Preferred Qualifications
MD, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences, Business-related life sciences experience (e.g., consulting, market research, or significant prior experience in equity valuation) Experience within genetic medicines, rare disease markets, neurology is a plus MBA / CFA preferred, but not required Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required Ability to search, understand, and interpret scientific and medical publications and presentations Work Location
Currently, this role is expected to be in the New York office at least 4 days per week. Salary
Annual base salary between $175,000 and $190,000. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
